    Incompetent Management

Nov 6, 2022 - Agent Executive Protection in Las Vegas, NV
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Pays well, frequent travel all over the world, benefits are good, but your management won’t let you use them. They only learned their employees have sick days this year, they’ve always had sick days

    Cons

Departmental management is completely ineffective. The hiring manager refuses to hire people with ‘soft voices’, meaning he won’t hire gay men. The department condones members of their management team harassing team members because of their sexual orientation/lifestyle. The idea of hiring a female is laughed at by the management team. When these issues are brought up outside the department the person blowing the whistle ends up miraculously terminated, sometimes with no cause. Then HR is quoted saying, “why aren’t these issues brought to our attention?” This management team would probably perform better if they could put their egos aside and let the team work. The higher you climb up departmental leadership, the more incompetent they become. To be a manager here you need a few things: to be there for a few years, have no skills or intelligence, and have no backbone. As long as you’re a yes man you will fit in fine.

    Avoid this Toxic Environment

    Sep 30, 2022 - Site Reliability Engineer
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    The salary is above market

    Cons

    * Lack of leadership buy-in to SRE principles. It's a sysadmin job! Run! * Lack of business goals (No OKRs, no guidance on what is required from leadership). * Lack of "blameless culture" (Lots of promises to change, but leadership lacks the commitment to hold themselves accountable) * A lot of politics. You can read books all day and management will not care. But if you question why your org doesn't have an actual product or if you make suggestions, you will not do well.
