I worked at LaserAway full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Loved it!! The medical staff is amazing and go above and beyond for all their clients! Great atmosphere and the work is fun

    Cons

Sometimes it can be challenging combining medical with sales staff. Some sales staff can be pushy and try to convince the nurses to do unsafe or ineffective treatments

    Advice to Management

To create a more cohesive team between sales and medical staff. Management is amazing and really supports medical staff a ton. Very flexible schedule and helpful

I have been working at LaserAway full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You can make really great commission here if sales is your thing. The payout for commission is 10% of everything you sell. Which can translate to big money for these pricy services. The industry itself is very interesting! Anyone who likes Esthetic/Cosmetic treatment would love it. You get to learn about all the different procedures, how/why the work, and even get a discount to get them done. Some of these... treatments you can get for free (laser hair removal, laser facial, etc).

    Cons

Management is OBSESSED with sales. Many regionals micromanage the sales team heavily. Each clinic doesn't have it's own "manager." But, rather they over-stretch one regional manager to cover about 8-10 clinics in a spread out area. So be prepared for about 20 emails a day telling you to make your 50 sales calls a day and to set yourself 8 consultations. Just a heads up, the sales calls in the back aren't as... successful as they used to be...no one answers their phones! The directors of the clinics get first dibs on working the front desk where you get every consult who walks in. The pay difference between PCC's and directors is staggering! From my understanding, the old directors make 15% commission and no hourly wages. The new directors will make $15 an hour with 10% commission. A perfect example of the staggering pay difference. Director made about $24,000 in commission this last month. The next person in "highest sales" made about $4,000. The "goal" is to become a director. However, directors rarely leave their jobs because of the amount of money they make. The only other opportunity is when they open a new location. How they pick directors though is purely based on seniority and favoritism. If you're not the regionals favorite "kiss butt" be prepare to be a PCC for life and work nothing but morning shifts which are the slowest! The owners of this company are extremely greedy. They don't contribute anything to your health insurance, don't offer maternity leave, and they make employees (including the nurses) pay for services they're given for free to give to us. A perfect example is the Cool Sculpting company gives LaserAway free cycles of treatment so the employees can experience the treatments and get it done. LaserAway makes us pay for those treatments. Also, Botox sends us "non-retail" vials so staff members can use these for free. LaserAway makes the nurses use those vials on patients and makes the employees pay for Botox. It's a FREE vial given to LaserAway... My biggest pain point is the schedule. Oh boy the schedule...If you're a PCC don't expect to have your schedule for the month until 2 days prior to the beginning of the month. September's schedule came out on August 30th...And that schedule isn't even set in stone - it can change without notice - so you need to check it often. My final complaint is that often times (especially in the beginning) you'll be asked to work at several locations. None of the locations are actually run the same way making it difficult to learn. Also, they will send you to work at a location more than an hour away even though there's a location 5 minutes away from your house. It's a bit ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

The growing pains of becoming corporate are evident. Stop micromanaging people - if you hired good/reliable employees they wouldn't need to be micromanaged. Also, stop playing favorites! Please promote based on a person's work performance. Please allow employees to take advantage of the free treatments Zeltiq and Allergen give you. We work very hard to make you a ton of money - all we want is not have to pay for... Cool Sculpting and Botox. Also, please stop sending us to work at a million different locations. This is why locations are disorganized and why mistakes are made in scheduling patients. You should have one team working for each location - no bouncing between different stores. Also, please get the work schedules out in a reasonable time. We too have lives and need to know what we're working so we can plan.

    I worked at LaserAway part-time

    Pros

My fellow nurses were great! Fun patients. I love aesthetic nursing :)

    Cons

This company cares about one thing...revenue. The sales team oversteps their role and work boundaries. Constant battle with sales team on who is a candidate for treatments. If you turn someone away based on your medical judgement, expect an attitude, a complaint to the sales manager, and then to be questioned. Very poor training, which is very scary with the services provided. No support for the medical team... and pressure to upsell on anything and everything. If you are someone who doesn't nod and say yes, or turn your cheeks to things you think are unprofessional and unethical do not work here!

    Advice to Management

With the integrity of this company you have placed yourself in the group of "med spas". If you want to be considered a cutting edge, clinical company rethink your model and refocus your energy on quality RN training and optimal customer service.

I worked at LaserAway part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good money IF and ONLY IF you an get into one of their 'busy' stores. Unlikely, as people who have been there for years get priority and refuse to leave. Pretty offices for the most part. Many locations. Pay on time.

    Cons

The salary for Sales Director is MUCH lower than stated on glassdoor. That salary is for a couple people working full-time in their busiest locations. Training manager, is a mirco-manging nut. The CEOs hire on the spot. Your position is ALWAYS posted on indeed.com, Craigslist, etc. They overstaff with "Sales Directors" and promise them positions at stores near where they live, then you will eventually come to find... out NO positions are actually open at ANY of their stores. They will have you 'assist' other Sales Directors for $12/hr, make HUNDREDS of cold calls from their customer lists (aka birthday list) only to force you to give the sales you make to the main Sales Director at that particular store. You are basically there to 'telemarket' for the store and aid the actual Sales Manager of the store. If you are a new employee, they will have you work at their NEW stores in areas far from where you live. New stores have NO traffic. Without traffic, it is extremely difficult to make any commission. The new stores take up to a year to actually generate business and revenue. The only people you will actual get to meet with are from GROUPON. If it is a Groupon customer, you don't get the sale. You only get the sale if you UPSELL them to a higher grade package. There are much better deals on Groupon than what laseraway offers and customers prefer to fully use their groupon before purchasing a larger package. These people are typically looking for a deal and don't want to spend extra money. The busiest stores they have are San Jose, Walnut Creek, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, OC, and San Diego. All the other stores have far less customer base and much less revenue for you to make commissions. They will have you 'train' and 'assist' as long as possible, give you a few part time shifts here and there to keep you waiting for a full-time position that doesn't actually exist. Conveniently, the days you actually get to work there will be few or NO consultations for you to actually 'close'. That is because the full time Sales Director will make sure to schedule/reschedule consults for the days THEY work there. I met several other employees going through the same thing all hoping for a full time position and all hearing the same promises. Some had been waiting 1.5 years to actually get one and it is usually only when they open a new store. They also rarely allow you to get free treatments as an employee. They mainly go to friends of the owners and nurses. Stay away, this place treats their customers badly and lies to their employees.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying to new hires and putting them in the back office to do cold calls. Stop promising them shifts and not even giving them one day a week to sell. Stop overstaffing! The only way for people to be successful is to build a rapport with customers by being in the office regularly.

I worked at LaserAway part-time for more than a year

    Pros

MUCH better than working in ER. I was in the ER for 6 years and saw everything. I was starting to get depressed with the atmosphere and the hours. Its so nice to deal with happy and healthy people. The hours are good and scheduling is flexible if I want time off.

    Cons

I worry about losing some of my clinical expertise because I am doing the same aesthetic treatments on a daily basis. I paid all that money and went through all of the schooling and then completely changed directions.

    Advice to Management

Offer more treatments and more training.
