    Not what I expected

Oct 14, 2022 - Agent in Los Angeles, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Benefits, entry level salary. Office snacks!

    Cons

What they tell you in the interview process is very different from when you start training. First off training is very confusing and unorganized. There is a lot of information overload with so many different requests the department has to handle for the firm that it can be extremely overwhelming. Upon interviewing, everything was painted as in there is enough training and support given to a newly hired agent but I don’t find that’s the case here. We were thrown on the phones without completing training and have to learn on the go, meanwhile the amount of interactions coming through while you’re on a call and receiving emails and faxes is very stressful for a call center. As a new person mistakes can be made, but not having the support of your coordinator who belittles you into making you doubt your ability is dehumanizing and unprofessional. When I have asked for further training, I was told that maybe this job isn’t for me. I’m really trying my best here but the training support is not what I expected.

    Pros

Great people, fantastic amount of time off. The work you do is fun and rewarding in recruiting.

    Cons

Traditional 9-5 is hard in this job during the slower part of the year as it feels as though you are at work for much longer than you need to be.

Challenging but Great Firm to Learn as a Young Associate

Sep 26, 2022 - Associate Attorney in Houston, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Sophisticated and challenging work, young energetic office, numerous opportunities to learn, a mostly friendly and laid-back staff, partners did their best to take associates under their wings and teach them the ropes, tons of free meals, top-notch facilities.

    Cons

Like most biglaw jobs, it was incredibly time-consuming and draining. Very challenging to keep up with expectations and still maintain much semblance of a personal life. Opportunities to move in-house weren't plentiful until you had 3+ years at the firm, which is a lot of your life to give up if you're not willing to stick with biglaw for the long haul.
