An okay place to work

Pros

- remote work with flexible hours - coworkers that become friends - islamic values - high energy work environment - rewarding company mission - good insight in what other teams are doing with some opportunities to work on projects you may be interested in outside your current role.

Cons

- low pay with no clear pay bands/structure - unclear and difficult career progression - disorganized management - high turnover with bad documentation making cross collaboration difficult - no standardized performance reviews or feedback - too much reliance on "high seasons" like ramadan to hit company goals - too much reliance on large but unpredictable campaigns without good support systems to manage them in place - often told to offer new ideas but they are not actually implemented or given the supports/tools to see them succeed - reliance on re-hiring or mass hiring new people instead of investing in existing teams (be it via investing in workers compensations or team budgets) - sudden layoffs in certain departments affecting moral - glossing over systemic management and operation issues by inviting speakers, having unnecessary on-sites, and promoting "we're a family"

FOR PROFIT company is poorly run

Pros

Work from home You get medical insurance only for yourself as a benefit but that's it..

Cons

Toxic culture and drama in many departments. Most year-to-year growth is not due to the hands of it's employees but rather social media and a few key influencers. Muslims organizations are preferring other low-fee or no-fee platforms instead of this high fee one. The millions from fees goes to salarys of excessive employees which could be used to help people instead. Benefits are bad. They expect you to be ok with less yet it is a FOR PROFIT organization racking in millions from fees. This money is justfied by saying their platform needs to grow. When is the growth enough? Its just like any corporation with greed.

Faith-talk Won't Fix Bad Leadership

Pros

- Value-aligned for Muslim employees - Earnest and global employee pool - Global in-person onsites for morale - Noble cause to ultimately help people get funding

Cons

- There's endless talk about values, visions, and the "North Star" but fish rots from the head down -- when leaders don't walk their own talk, everyone beneath them suffers (except the few handpicked favorites who get promoted to leadership positions they are underqualified for). - Benefits are subpar and salary is non-competitive with limited growth opportunities. - This is a good place for you to get some experience for a year or two if you're either very early in your career or you want to play the yes-man game with narcissistic leadership and get a fancy title on your resume before looking for a better employer. - Faith-talk only goes so far if you don't walk your own talk. YMMV but I found that mixing faith obligations with work duties gets a bit manipulative after a while.
