    Pros

The people were great to work with.

    Cons

Sometimes the number of non-work related events that were held around the office could be distracting and make it difficult to get work done.

"A company that has lost its way . . ."

I worked at Lauren Engineers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

*Lauren's core values have helped to set it apart from other companies. It is a Christian company and not afraid to extol its virtues. I felt privileged to work there--for the most part--when the company leadership stood by these values even when things didn't always go well.

*Lauren pays most of the employee and family medical premiums (all but $100 a pay period), all of the vision and dental insurance, and matches up to 4% on the 401k. For a small company, their benefits are very hard to beat. Half day Fridays were great. Compensation was very good for the most part.

    Cons

*Location: For a company in the power, chemical, and oil & gas business, a presence in Abilene, Texas, is going to be a long-term failure. You have to commit to other locations and not just shut those other locations down. As the market gains steam, that will not translate to Abilene.

*No defined bonus system. There were supposed to be guidelines for how the bonuses worked, but no one every saw what they were or they were simply arbitrary and never followed in the first place.

*No business development: Lauren has, unequivocally, the worst business development setup I've ever seen. There is no cohesion between business units, limited cooperation, and not enough individuals that have brought in and secured work, be it small cap or major projects. Business development was not held accountable for actually getting work.

*No true leadership anymore. The Lauren organizational chart is constantly in flux on an annual or more frequent basis, and much of the new management--note I said management and not leadership--brought in has not secured any additional work. Long-term client relations have been shattered, very few new clients have been found, and there are no good prospects for a company that is now about 1/3 of its size from a year ago.

    Advice to Management

I'm not really sure what to say. I want Lauren to succeed again and rise from where it is now, but it takes committed leadership and putting employees first. Getting back to those core values and focusing on what made the company grow originally should be a common goal. I think the damage has been done, however. Also, communicate better across the company lines. Lauren is not a mega-corporation, but the absolute lack of communication certainly seemed to resemble one.

I worked at Lauren Engineers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are working as a contractor, you are usually paid well because Lauren knows how to charge clients extra. for full time employees are all cons!

    Cons

work schedule starts 7:00 AM in the morning!!! working overtime in Lauren is meaningless!!!!! that means you are never paid for any overtime even if you are a top manager! If you are a full time employee, they make you to stay 50-55 hrs a week when they need you and never pay you a penny for that!! they almost never promote you! no raise in salary ever no matter how hard you worked during the year! They closed their offices one by one easy when they have no project! they also have policy of salary reduction when things are going slow!!! now it's up to you if you wanna work there!

    Advice to Management

    Nope!

I worked at Lauren Engineers (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Maintained employment there for 11 years. Kept the office open for 6 months without any work.

    Cons

People that were laid off early had several weeks of severance pay while those of us they kept aboard were abruptly laid off with no severance pay. Really upset a lot of the faithful who stuck it our till the end,

    Advice to Management

Be more fair to your loyal employees
