I have been working at Lawrence Merchandising part-time

    Pros

I like that I can choose which assignments I take and I can schedule whenever I please as long as it is within the specified time/date range. If I need to reschedule, it isn't an issue as long as I schedule early. The jobs I've done so far have been very easy. The pay is fair enough and I haven't had an issue with my paycheck yet. I like that I get to work independently. I doubt I'll ever actually meet my manager in person, but he is always quick to respond to my emails and has been helpful whenever I had questions. You also receive a (very) small reimbursement for printing and phone use. They also hire you as an employee and not a contractor, which I don't mind either way, but I like that I am an employee yet still have the freedom of a contractor.

    Cons

There's not always a lot of work. I was worried that I had gone through the hiring process for nothing. For the first couple of weeks after I was hired there wasn't much to do, but then work started popping up and I am able to earn a decent part-time check. I try to jump on every opportunity that arises in my area and I have been chosen as the default rep for a couple of stores. They don't reimburse for mileage/travel time because they allow you to work whenever you want and choose which assignments you want to do. Depending on the client you may receive a little compensation for travel, but it is not guaranteed.

    Advice to Management

Although I understand the explanation for why you don't pay mileage, it would be great if you did. That's my only real complaint.

I worked at Lawrence Merchandising part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved this job! I mainly worked for one retailer in two locations and I loved both of those stores. I was also given a variety of assignments in other stores which made the job interesting.

    Cons

Being retail, I was overloaded with hours during the busy season and struggled to get hours in between, but with good financial management I was able to save to make it through the down times. I do recommend having an off-season supplemental job to help make ends meet.

    Advice to Management

I did have several different district supervisors throughout my time. One was excellent, the others were good. Communication is important to ensure the merchandiser can work independently. When I ask a question of a manager I usually find an explanation along with an answer to be more beneficial in the long run.

I worked at Lawrence Merchandising full-time

    Pros

The HQ teams work well together; great office location

    Cons

The CEO frequently changes his vision. This causes unnecessary frustration and workload for teams and also makes it difficult for the company to reach its potential. He defaults to intimidation tactics and blame when he is unsure of himself or doesn't know what to do.

    Advice to Management

Develop a solid strategy and share it with the teams; try not to lead with emotion.

    Pros

Great flexibility! Wonderful job if you have school age children or an elderly parent that needs your help. Highly recommend.

    Cons

I honestly can't think of cons except the occasional store employee who is in a bad mood. Smile & keep going.

    Advice to Management

Some projects are large & wish there were more 2 people projects.
