I have been working at Layton Construction full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, good work/life balance. The people are great.

    Cons

Still learning the pros of utilizing technology and some of the technology is a little outdated. The training on the programs and processes is slow and efforts to improve the training system are moving slowly as well.

    Advice to Management

Take more time to implement technologies and make sure you have appropriate training in place before telling us to use them. We keep hearing there is training coming but it seems to be taking a long time to get anything out.

I have been working at Layton Construction full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Besides the great benefits, I like the smaller business units within Layton that it is possible to get to know your team better and feel wanted/needed. Also, the smaller business units gives more of a variety of possibilities of career/leadership opportunities to grow. Layton is a very stable job with a positive atmosphere. Layton Construction is a great place to be. Come check it out!

    Cons

Layton says they have a culture but I don't really know the culture to be honest. The training is improving but still feel like I am lost (since I am new) not sure what I should know. Training need to be a lot better. There needs to be better leadership and mentoring. More communications between business units. More feedback and recognition.. not sure how I'm doing.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved with your team.

    Cons

Sometimes the best talent needed for new projects gets overlooked from within the organization.

    Pros

PE is the entry level position so you have options of becoming a Assist. PM or Assist. Sup after.

    Cons

There are some gaps in management and field work because they aren't as established as the bigger companies that have been working in HI for decades.
