I have been working at Lazard as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

At the New York office there is an opportunity to work with so many groups over the summer which allows you to easily see the makeup of the firm. People are willing to take the time to teach you and you are given a lot of responsibility even as an intern. The projects you work on are incredibly important to a specific industry.

    Cons

Hours are long but standard if not better for banking. Went in thinking based on other reviews it is a sweatshop which is not the case at all!

    Advice to Management

more interaction with new full time analysts starting and summer interns would be helpful

I worked at Lazard as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great office environment, great people. Small boutique feel with resources of a global big name bank. I really enjoyed my time at Lazard this past summer.

    Cons

I didn't experience too many downsides. Like I said, I really enjoyed my time there - I got to learn a lot about the business and how it works. They did a great job with the internship program.

    Pros

Lazard is very well positioned in the investment banking and asset management businesses which makes lazard a great and stable place to work

    Cons

There are few cons as the work life balance is good, pay is generally fair but not better than average, and the environment is relatively flat which is good

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

    Pros

The amount of responsibility that can be delegated to employees low down on the overall professional hierarchy is impressive and can be a tremendous learning environment for rapid maturity for these younger employees. As one of the few investment banking firms left, and with its tremendous history, you can get some very interesting assignments delegated to smart, but 'green' (new) employees. .

    Cons

It's hard work if business is busy. Don't plan on seeing your significant others much if you are working late night after night and weekends. However, that runs with the cycles. I suspect that with the economic slowdown the quality of life is much better.

    Advice to Management

Stay in touch with Felix. His name is not in the running for the Obama administration so perhaps he can come back to Lazard one more time?
