I worked at Lazard full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Exposure to large transactions and leading companies. Strong teams, great technical learning experience and interesting exposure to negotiations. Global company.

    Cons

Very long hours. Limited support for poorer performers. Nasty monkey work sometimes. Some clients are very traditional corporates - not quite the greatest match for younger staff.

    Advice to Management

Hire more computer science major, try to combine strength from various profiles to renew working methods. Work with PE funds to slow down recruiting process which disturbs analyst classes a lot

    Pros

Really smart people, small enough that you feel like an important part of the team/company, but large enough to have great deal flow.

    Cons

Long hours, but nothing different than other M&A shops/banks.

I worked at Lazard full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There is no better place to be if you want to work on M&A, corporate finance, and strategic advisory for the world's most demanding and prestigious clients.

    Cons

Long hours and pay has been slightly below peers in recent years.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on being the leading provider of independent advice, but that can only be sustained if top talent is nurtured and allowed to rise through the ranks. Focus on rewarding and paying more attention to your best employees In this day and age, the prestige and cachet of the firm is no longer sufficient to retain top talent. Career development, compensation, and genuine interest in developing a work-life balance culture is key.

I have been working at Lazard for less than a year

    Pros

At the New York office there is an opportunity to work with so many groups over the summer which allows you to easily see the makeup of the firm. People are willing to take the time to teach you and you are given a lot of responsibility even as an intern. The projects you work on are incredibly important to a specific industry.

    Cons

Hours are long but standard if not better for banking. Went in thinking based on other reviews it is a sweatshop which is not the case at all!

    Advice to Management

more interaction with new full time analysts starting and summer interns would be helpful
