I worked at LeTourneau University full-time

    Pros

Wonderful coworkers and management! Opportunity to learn new technology.

    Cons

My position was eliminated and there was no other opportunity for me without a bachelor degree.

    Advice to Management

Management runs a tight ship. I don't have any advice.

I worked at LeTourneau University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everyone I worked with was very positive and happy to help you grow as an employee. Investing in people through mentoring is consistently practiced by the faculty and staff. I have nothing but good things to say about my years there.

    Cons

The pay may be on the lower side of average but they make up for it by investing in the enrichment of their employees through education and a happy working environment.

    Pros

It strives to educate young people.

    Cons

Weird pecking order among faculty and staff. The university does not strive to enhance the intellect of the teaching staff. Great history, but it seems to have forgotten its roots.

I worked at LeTourneau University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers, many great students. The heart of many LETU employees is gold. Great work-life balance for the most part. I have many lifelong friends from my time here.

    Cons

We HATED living in Longview, TX, which is an uncultured dump of a town. Higher education is challenging because at some point tuition and money become more important than people. LETU is very much in the midst of that struggle.

    Advice to Management

Think outside the box, and take the time to listen to ground-level employees. Making decisions in a vacuum without comprehensive input harms everyone. College education anywhere is decreasingly worth the high tuition that colleges like LETU charge; put some thought into making higher education a viable, sustainable service rather than maintaining the status quo of raising prices and expecting students to pay it.

I worked at LeTourneau University (More than a year)

    Pros

It was nice working in a Christian environment.

    Cons

You don't get paid for the extra duties you perform.

    Advice to Management

There are some in management who are out of touch with reality. They require more from their staff without adequate compensation.

    Pros

Kevin Snyder was a great boss and gave clear instructions. If I ever needed him to clarify his instructions or expectations he would gladly elaborate.

    Cons

There was some office drama, but I think that happens everywhere in a close environment and working with a few people many hours of the week.

    Pros

The university marketing and communications department was a fun group of talented individuals to work along side. The students always made it interesting and fun. The S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance center staff were also very welcoming and great to work with.

    Cons

Sometimes it felt like the tail was wagging the dog. In my opinion there were differences in marketing strategies across the upper management and the department director leading to waisted time, money and manpower.

    Advice to Management

You are incredibly fortunate to have an outstanding Marketing and Communication team. Let their creativity fly.
