I have been working at LeadDog Marketing Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great, unique culture
Continuity (people that fit stay a long time)
None of the traditional agency politics
Young / junior employees are able to move very quickly and get exposure to a lot
    True team environment
Senior management that cares about their staff

    Cons

Can be a very fast pace
Employees that require a lot of structure and for things to be spelled out for them don't generally fit
Employees are expected to step outside of their comfort zones, which isn't for everyone

    Advice to Management

The reality is that LeadDog isn't for everyone. It requires people with a growth mindset that want to challenge themselves, learn new things and are comfortable being uncomfortable. Those types of people do very well as evidenced by the many very young people who have risen to senior positions and the large percentage of employees who have stayed 5+ years. In my 5+ years at LeadDog I have never seen someone come in, do great work and not be rewarded for it. I have seen plenty of people come in with lower standards than we have, or not being the right culture fit as far as being open to stepping outside of their comfort zone or being used to agencies that were much more about playing politics than actually delivering value and fail... and it seems, take to Glassdoor to complain : )

If you want to learn, are competitive, are willing to roll up your sleeves and want to work with people who truly see being at an agency as being on the same team you will do great here and stay a long time. If you don't you won't.

    Pros

Great Company. Great People. Great Culture

    Cons

Confronting Growing Pains need to become a primary focus.

    Advice to Management

CEO needs to rely more heavily on Senior Team and be open to hiring Senior Talent to help the Agency transition from a small agency mindset into a world class agency while maintaining their special breed of agency culture. Recent acquisition may help here.

    Pros

Great passionate people, hard working and care about actively contributing to the work and the culture of the agency.

    Cons

Agency is at a cross roads with huge gap in leadership. They are suffering from the classic "what got you here won't get you there" founder syndrome. The CEO is highly erratic and emotional which means all decisions are made by him and are irrational. The shame is he sees himself as the sole reason for their success and while he is the force behind the agency he is also the reason for its wild turnover and lack of focus as an agency.

    Advice to Management

They need to invest in strong leaders and let them lead, CEO should focus on sales and build a Senior Management team who are permitted to make decisions and make it a better place to work.

    Pros

People are great - very diverse backgrounds. Everyone is helpful and friendly. Good team building activities such as happy hours in and out of office.

    Cons

Scarce opportunities for movement upwards. Some departments are treated with different amenities than others. CEO is very friendly, however, if you are not his type of person, you often get fired or end up leaving because you don't mesh with him.

    Advice to Management

Provide equal opportunities to every department, make sure to replace someone within a few weeks of their departure from the company.

    Pros

Big name clients. Many young employee with new and creative ideas.

    Cons

Although it seems like they are all friendly & welcoming, it's all an illusion. There's small groups going on within certain departments and is hard to break into. They pretend to be nice to you but you know that is not the case.

The company is going through a transition time so a lot of things are uncertain.

    Pros

Very young company, inclusive and is good about having social gatherings and appreciating their employees as a whole group.

    Cons

Even though they are aware of employee engagement as a whole company they are very bad at individual employee appreciation. Most upper management I worked with talked down to their employees as well as thought it was "Leaddog's way or the Highway.' I think they are great at Marketing as well as activation's but in regards to overall event management they need some help. I think if you are young in your career and are looking for a good company to start with, Leaddog would be great for that. If you are looking to advance your career, and be respected in mid level management I would look somewhere else.

I worked at LeadDog Marketing Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

LeadDog's office design, openness and location is a great environment to work in. Many of the younger staff members (which is the majority of the company) are eager to go the extra mile and truly dedicate themselves to the company.

    Cons

Unfortunately the youthful employees don't receive enough support from middle or upper management and end up with way too much on their plate. The hours are long and carry into the weekend and late nights on a consistent basis and end up burning people out, hence the high turnover rate. Additionally, the CEO is incredibly emotional and makes rash decisions based on his mood and/or unprofessional gossip.

    Advice to Management

Create a strategic structure and implement processes to streamline efforts in order to cut back on chaos. Give your open and honest advice, feedback and opinions to the CEO instead of being a "yes person."

LeadDog is a high-paced company that offers a wide-range of jobs to a new hire. You will sink or swim, and if you swim, you'll be well-prepared for the professional world.

    Cons

    The work/life balance is tough.
