      Good Team Environment

      Pros

The team was great and very easy to get along with. Always felt like someone had my back, teammates and manager included. Opportunities to work from home if needed, and manager was always very understanding. Promoted a solid work life balance. Decent interaction with other teams and department managers. Plant manager was direct in what he wanted and got results.

      Cons

For Finance, month end is not fun. Generally long hours until everyone is up to speed on their areas and then it’s more manageable but still stressful. Some departments have the tendency to point fingers at one another when they feel like something isn’t their responsibility.

      Pros

HR runs very lean, so you get to experience a ton of different facets of HR in a short amount of time.

      Cons

HR runs very lean, so work-life balance is definitely an issue.

The good, the bad, and the ugly

Jul 17, 2019 - Engineer in Southfield, MI

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Half-day Friday between Memorial Day and Labor Day (if meet United Way target); generous amount of company holidays; good work-life balance

      Cons

A lack of technical career path for engineers. On the company HR site, there is Principal Engineer rank. However it’s rarely filled. The company is trying to have more diversity in its workforce. However the management ranks are often white male. In the past 25 years, very few people could retire at my department. Most older employees got laid off. Good old boy culture. Befriend your boss and you’ll be taken care of.

      Great company, even better people

      Pros

The people, culture, and work-life balance really stick out at Lear. Managers/Supervisors are more helpful than at any other company I've worked for. The culture is relaxed, but everyone in the company wants to work hard and achieve success for themselves and the people around them. The recruiters are upbeat and really give you a good sense of what the company will be like if you work here, unlike some companies I have worked with in the past.

      Cons

Not many things to write about here. Lear will make you work hard; only motivated people will have success here. That is what makes it such a great environment to work in.

Lear is a great place to work and learn, and is invested in their employees

      Pros

There are companies that promote having a good work-life balance, and then there are the companies that have it. Lear is a company that has it, and a great understanding of the work-life balance so many people look for. Lear always seems to be working to grow the company while keeping their employee's in focus. It is great! Lear is at the forefront of developing technologies, a leader in the industry and generates a feeling that all employees have the ability to contribute.

      Cons

It is a large company and some days can feel like being lost in the shuffle. There are very few drawbacks to working at Lear.
