I have been working at Learjet full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good salary. Very nice overtime/double time opportunities? Lots of travel opportunities.

    Cons

"Good ol boys" club for middle and director level management. Volatility of the aircraft industry. No fringe benefits. Low to no yearly merit increases.

    Advice to Management

If you want to keep key talent you have to give them a reason to stay. Senior level engineers are highly mobile and will leave as soon as something better comes along. I hear Georgia is nice in the winter time.

I worked at Learjet full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company has people that are great at their job. Engineers, Project Integrators, Supply Chain, all want to get the job done and do it the right way. Most managers will make efforts to make sure you have what you need to do your job. Managers take the feedback in surveys very seriously and make efforts to improve what they have control over. There is a team atmosphere at the working level across all platforms and job descriptions of genuine caring for one another. The company has great processes, but at the Learjet site, they never staffed accordingly to follow those procedural requirements.

    Cons

Upper level management dumps many of their issues (especially those that come out of annual surveys) on their managers. Many of those issues are not within the control of those managers. The company made some questionable decisions in the methods of construction of its new business jet. They also over extended financial resources on too many concurrent programs.

    Advice to Management

Instead of asking people that come to you to solve problems out of their control, take a genuine interest in our employees.

    I worked at Learjet full-time

    Pros

Enjoyed most of the people I worked with. Bobmardier's overall benefits package is pretty good.

    Cons

Poor management on the Learjet 85 program. Many of the managers lack professional, personal, and communication skills that is typical for the position. Morale was bad, working environment was poor. No clear direction of program, always working under lies and misinformation - terrible environment to work in.

I have been working at Learjet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has a lot of work to do with the new L85 Program. take the ball and run comes to mind. If you want something you are empowered to go out and get it.

    Cons

There seems to be no one with their "arms around" the entire program. We ae not all on the same page. There is a lot of extra work beinf done that doesn'e need to be.

    Pros

Very cool A/C and an exciting lean transformation in process. I am very proud of what has been going on in the Learjet Factory.

    Cons

Mother ship makes all decisions from Montreal, and they are very much in silos when it comes to sharing information between sites.

    Advice to Management

They need to listen to the specialists that they have hired, focus on what their future A/C need to be competitive in the market place. If they intend to ever meet a schedule they cannot be afraid to show that they need help, or are behind so that a mitigation plan can be enacted. Choose the right materials for the proposed design and ensure that Stress, Design, and Operations all know how to properly analyse that material. Otherwise it gets designed the way they know and are comfortable with and you end up paying 3 times the price for a material, for a design that does not lend itself to the manufacturing process.

    Pros

    Benefits package is very good

    Cons

The people are rude. There is a lot of discrimination in the workplace

    Advice to Management

When someone is being discriminated against, you need to take care of the problem, not just give a slap on the wrist to the person who is in the wrong
