    Pros

Employee owned company with a flat organizational structure and exceptional commitment to the community. Builds cool projects and offers lots of opportunity for growth.

    Cons

There are no downsides that I can think of. The company and its leaders challenge people to bring their best effort, and innovative solutions, so if that's not your cup of tea, it's not for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep true to the culture, continue to diversify, provide mentorship and training opportunities. Keep up the good work on the community service front.

    Pros

Large family like atmosphere that treats employees with great respect and attention. Lewis is a fantastic company to make a career with. They're very selective towards the talent they recruit, only the best make the cut.

    Cons

Promotions seem few and far between, but that's probably because the turnover is very, very low.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Lease Crutcher Lewis full-time

    Pros

The work - life balance is pretty sustainable. I appreciate that they acknowledge life does not equal work.

    Cons

The mentoring is NOT strong. The pace at which you learn is slower than normal. Not sure if its the Seattle industry or an internal company thing.

    Advice to Management

Don't be stingy with perks for Project Engineers. I feel like I receive minimal appreciation and perks.

I have been working at Lease Crutcher Lewis full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Family run atmosphere, team driven, with many options to advance and succeed. This company has earned a great reputation in the Pacific Northwest due to its employees and the hard work they put in.

    Cons

Currently I cannot think of a single con, I love this company! The main office is downtown, which can be a pain for parking etc...

    Pros

Autonomy. An ability to pursue and work on projects that you are passionate about. You are responsible for the scopes assigned to you and expected to fully deliver.

    Cons

Autonomy means that different managers in the company are performing tasks differently which leads to relearning processes based on your manager.
It can be challenging to get the support or mentoring if you are not aggressive in reaching out and pursuing it.

    Advice to Management

Standardize the easy processes so employees can focus their time on the value added work.

I have been working at Lease Crutcher Lewis full-time

    Pros

If the Portland division is any indication of the Seattle Lewis, the company has a great culture and most refreshingly a distinct lack of ego. Having worked for large contractors the attitudes, flexibility, and small company feel is extremely refreshing. Great people, innovative thinking, focus on efficiency, client focused, and good to it's folks... what more could you ask for in a general contractor.

    Cons

Systems are not fully developed on many levels and although some may look at this as a con, others may find this refreshing and having great potential. Some of the leadership and people are not as aggressive as some may be used to in this business which could be looked at as a con. Compensation is fairly medium to low for the industry but this is in exchange for the pros that the company offers.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to the current and original culture in spite of growth and new faces at senior positions. Keep the company feeling small and regional and resist overbearing corporate policies like the plague. Identify great talent WITHIN the company and reward as much as possible. Keep it lean, keep it green, & above all keep it humble.

I have been working at Lease Crutcher Lewis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great culture of mentoring young people to pass on success and knowledge.
    - Countless opportunities to get involved with company events, recruiting, networking, business development, etc.
    - If you want to learn how to use a program all you have to do is ask. One on one BIM/Revit/CAD sessions are available via our BIM Dept. There is no restriction on who gets to learn what.
    - Big emphasis on being at the cutting edge of construction technology. All new PE's get two brand new monitors, double screens! IT is always trying out new gadgets and PE's are usually tasked with testing out tablets, new programs, etc.
    - Brand new office being built in Westlake/Bell Town area. Refurbished an existing brick building from old Seattle era. Used to be the Union Stables Building. The bottom floor will have a restaurant and coffee shop. For the many employees that bike to work, there will be bike racks and a locker room.
    - Great group of repeat clients, all doing interesting projects.
    - Some very cool, one of a kind Seattle projects underway and on the horizon. Backlog of new work is looking very nice.
    - 100% employee owned through an ESOP.
    - Always pushing lean construction and LEED.
    - Good starting salary. Raises and Bonuses given in the spring.
    - People don't spend their life working. Everyone at the company keeps a good work-life balance. No pressure to stay late. Most people pack up at the end of the day and go enjoy the outdoors.
    - Awesome company events and get-togethers. Always great food.

    Cons

Like any company, as a new employee trying to figure out where you fit in can be intimidating. However, most new employees are informally assigned a mentor to help guide them along.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it rolling!

    Pros

It's great being an employee owner.

    Cons

Horrible at assuring a work life balance, if you don't work 60 hour work weeks you aren't pulling your weight.

    Advice to Management

Create an environment where work-life balance is a consideration.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Everyone is interested in what is happening, and constantly trying to improve themselves and the company. Tons of resources to get yourself going on a project. These people know what they are doing because they've been around for 130 years!

    Cons

Some weekends require work, but that's construction.

    Advice to Management

Keep the job training up. That is where new employees learn the most. Continue to incorporate every person involved in the project. This maintains top interest and dedication.
