really bad senior management team

Has its perks, but they're hard to find
Jan 30, 2019 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Some genuinly amazing, talented and hardworking people - many of whom have now left. The general chaos means you'll get to try/learn things well outside of your comfort zone (whether you want to or not).
Cons
Don't expect to work reasonable hours. Don't expect any gratitude for the work you produce under exceptionally tough conditions. Expect to be thrown under the bus by senior management looking to cover themselves for poor business decisions.

Terrible management, toxic work environment
Mar 21, 2018 - Department Manager in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
???? seriously, none. None, none, none.
Cons
The senior management has no clue on how to run a telco business (or any other business for what it matters). The new people that took over management at the end of last year have the only plan of slashing costs (they made redundant 250 people just in CHRISTMAS!!!) and surround themselves of YES-men and YES-women. They have no understanding of job roles and responsibilities. The HR department has no clue on how to solve issues and escalations for inappropriate and harassing behaviour are simply ignored. Many talented and bright people have already left the business as a consequence of this disgraceful, incompetent management and many are about to leave. Just the mediocre yes-men and women and the junior people are still stuck there.

Pros
- Salary - Colleagues - Location - Space for new ideas
Cons
- Lack of clear direction from senior management
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
There are some excellent people working at Lebara. The offices are nice and in a good location.
Cons
The excellent people mentioned above are generally under-appreciated by senior management. This is because senior management doesn't seem to understand many of the roles within the business. That might be ok if the business was structured so that teams we given realistic targets, sensible budgets and space to do what they do best without ridiculous interventions from senior management, but that is not the case. Several people have been recruited with no clear definition as to what they actually be doing, and the company doesn't get the best out of them. There are also several people who have been massively over-promoted, and act like they own the place. Worryingly, there is a culture where overbearing personalities, cliques, and sexist behaviour seem to be tolerated. There is a really bad atmosphere created by all of the above, which leads many employees to feel unhappy in their jobs, and there will no doubt be many more people leaving. The back office functions are not good. HR, IT, finance and others have no urgency, and do not seem to be there to help, but rather get away with doing as little as possible.

One of the worst companies I've worked for
Sep 7, 2015 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Had a fun team dynamic, people are willing to learn. Very fast paced.
Cons
One of the worst cultures I've worked for. People are afraid of senior management and I don't blame them when you walk past their offices and every time you see them screaming and shouting at their team members and treat their staff like slaves. Expected to work late, no rewards, HR do nothing when half a team has quit and clearly the problem was senior management yet they bully their team and threaten their jobs in a throat cutting environment. I was appalled by the culture and when these senior management act like kids and point the fingers at those below them when things go wrong. Too many priorities which make the company a mess and fighting for resources but senior management give unrealistic deadlines and your expected to just do it. They don't listen and that's the major downfall of this company.

the inmates are running the asylum
Aug 10, 2015 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
the customer service department is well run wit everyone focusing on customer satisfaction.....unfortunately they are the only positive thing about the place
Cons
Having worked in the HR department for nearly 3 years i can confirm that the positive reviews are written by either the HR department or PA's to the senior management. This is without a doubt the most political and poorly run company i have ever worked for. If you know the right people in the right places you'll be OK, otherwise you'd better do things exactly the way they've always been done or you won't be popular. There is no room for innovation and whilst the CEO is an inspiring guy to listen to, everyone below him is stifled and simply tows the line, fearful of what will happen if they don't. The Senior HR Team don't look after the needs of the staff, rather the needs of senior management and what is best for them.....though they are very good at covering this up.
Continue readingWe love our customer service department too! They have won us accolades and are a great team filled with energy and positivity. We regret that after 3 yearsyou have left unhappy. As the organisation evolves and grows, whilst still trying to retain what we’re great at, we look to all levels of management and ,staff (longer serving and new) to impact culture positively and we continue to review, improve and make progress in all aspects of Lebara. Don’t hesitate to contact us on email Careers@lebara.com to discuss more.

Sharp Learning curve, empowerment & entrepreneurial
Mar 27, 2015 - Product Manager in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Fast paced & challenging - Very talented employees - If you got the right attitude, you can take more responsibilities & learning curve is huge - employees are empowered to find smarter solutions & experiment them. First time mistakes are excused. - No hard corporate cultural constraints, its entrepreneurial & family feel.
Cons
- Rapid expansion in Lebara's service offerings, gives higher individual responsibilities, which in turn more work or new areas to work. - Lack of same of level of understanding of the business between long term employees and newly joined employees, even at Senior management level.

Finance Manager
Apr 18, 2015 - Finance Manager in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
None - or just a job to get some money to be able to survive
Cons
1. Senior management turnover: in the sort period I've worked for Lebara, I've observed at least: 2 changes of global CEO, 1 change of global CFO, 1 change of global finance controller, 1 change of regional finance controller, 3 changes of country managers, 3 changes of country finance managers, 1 change of country head of sales and 1 change of country head of marketing 2. Organisational structure: no clear responsibilities 3. Processes: failing processes, increasing lag time in solving IT issues 4. Product management: products launched with total disregard to the missed supporting process (e.g. tracking, customers support, error fixes)
