I have been working at Legacy Health (More than a year)

    Pros

There are several positive aspects joining LH. One, the team atmosphere is a strong component of the culture. Each member is a source of information and willing to knowledge-share. Another great characteristic is the work-life balance. Coming from an industry that considers 24/7 access the norm, the balance here at LH has been a breath of fresh air, and I am thankful for it! The benefits are excellent for employees and their families.

    Cons

I have not experienced too many negatives as of yet. One has been the ability to adopt new technologies. This is a slow process. However, I have noticed some quicker, more agile areas where the culture's agility is increasing.
Another negative is that certain employment entry levels have low salary ranges. The inflexibility regarding salary is a disadvantage against most other industry/market segments. With the flatness of the organization, the opportunity to 'move-up' via title/level to gain the next salary step, are far and few between. This was the one area that made me hesitant to join. If there is a timeliness to salary improvements for these individuals, that will keep attrition lower.

    Advice to Management

One item I would recommend is to have more executive buy-in and approval to certain initiatives, such as technology use. Having an executive(s) lead by example is not just good for the employees but also for the overall organization.

I worked at Legacy Health full-time

    Pros

The pay was decent. Management is supportive. Growth and learning opportunities abundant. Overall, great place to work!

    Cons

I honestly can't say anything bad about my time with Legacy. I would still work there had my spouse not been relocated out of state.

    Advice to Management

Continue doing what you are doing! You are making a difference and EPIC was by far the best system you could have implemented to increase patient experience since the staff now have the time to really focus on the patients needs.

    Pros

Pay and Benefits are good. Organization working hard on promoting from within except for higher-level leadership opportunities. Seems there is more interest to hire from the outside.

    Cons

Dr. Brown is excellent. Some of the senior leaders spend too much time on their own agendas rather than a common vision. This creates confusion in the organization.

    Advice to Management

Focus on Dr. Brown's visions collectively

I worked at Legacy Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Collaborative and respectful working culture, excellent leaders (epecially Dr Brown as CEO and the children's hopsital nursing directors) but also down to the managers. Clear expectations and effective leadership structure, focus on the patient. Beautiful facility, brand-new children's hospital inpatient tower. values of the organization are simple and well ingrained. Community-focused and innovative.

    Cons

Financial pressures (which are everywhere, not unique to Legacy), sometimes high-volumes as an urban center which can make the work-load difficult.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen, your teams are smart and effective and will continue to help you find the solutions to difficult problems.
