I worked at Legal Access Plans part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Marketing Interns gain range of activities including project management, design, strategic marketing, and online marketing. The company has a strong team dynamic and is very collaborative. Also, contributing to the effort to give members legal help and support is very rewarding. This company is rapidly growing and expanding its clientele, which is a plus to anyone seeking professional growth in a company

    Cons

The office can be occasionally chaotic because of the expansion of the company, but management puts forth initiative to organize the high volumes of projects.

    Pros

    - Learn a lot about Law
    - Sharpen Customer Service and/or Sales skills
    - Great entry level position for someone out of school or needing a step up from other jobs
    - Fun co-workers
    - Given a lot of autonomy and freedom in how you choose to do tasks
    - Casual work environment
     - Great for those who want to work full time and go back to school
    - Flexible work hours...sorta
    - Since PTO doesn't exist really for Call Center employees you technically have a unlimited unpaid Vacation time - so long as you don't abuse it.
    -Overtime
    - Good Location

    Cons

    - Marketing Dept. writing their own reviews
    - Lack of Vertical Mobility
    - Micromanagement
    - Lack of Career Path development
    - Micromanagement ( they have to)
    - Call center, so if that's not for you don't work here, typical Call center BS- overbearing managers, tied to a desk all day, having to talk to to stressed out people all day everyday not to mention having to make nearly a hundred outbound "service" calls per day.
    - Company's idea of Benefits are a joke, but they can't help it since they cannot afford better benefits for employees. Hint: You get 1 day of PTO after one year of work.
    - For ambitious people this place will be nothing more than a "job" until you find something better.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees happiness. Don't lie about them having a future there when there is nowhere for them to advance in reality. PTO needs to be severely re-thought and is not competitive. You want to upgrade staff to match with services and products offered but need to do better to actually retain people. Lastly, if the employees are taking and making calls, and generally getting the job done and making the company run smoothly, stop being overbearing dicks about what they do in between calls.

    Pros

    - The people you work with a really awesome, caring and fun.
    - The scheduling is pretty flexible.
    - It is a pretty low stress job.
    - Good company culture.

    Cons

    - There is not a lot of opportunity for personal career growth.
    - PTO benefit could be re thought, but it is not to bad.

    Advice to Management

Maybe offer employees more opportunities to grow and learn the industry and promote from within to lower turnover.

    Pros

The CEO is a good guy and has a good concept to the type of business. The company has great clients and has the potential to grow. If you just need a paycheck...its a J.O.B.

    Cons

Not enough value placed in its employees. True definition of a pyramid scheme where upper management profits and the employees barely make enough to pay their bills...not even PAID TIME OFF!!!!.... Bad idea setting such high expectations for your clients with minimal values placed in the employees who provide a high level of customer service to your clients and expect to create a positive work environment.

    Advice to Management

Stop writing your own reviews about "being fair" and being a "being a great place to work" because none of them are true. Find a manager who is not on medication who actually knows what they are doing.

I have been working at Legal Access Plans full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company provides great experience for someone looking to use it as a stepping stone.

    Cons

Senior Management abuses/harasses employees and retaliates against employees that follow the process to stop the harassment.

    Advice to Management

Legal Access plans needs to replace some of it's senior management team. If Legal Access plans continues to conduct business and treat its employees the way it does, the company could see itself in a labor related lawsuit.

I have been working at Legal Access Plans full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very flexible. Company understands that employees are people. If you are a go-getter, lots of room to do new things. Great team. Fun activities. Lots of lunches.

    Cons

Growing company sometimes means stretching and doing lots with sometimes not enough. The growth has been nice though during a nationally bad economy.

    Advice to Management

Add a bonus structure outside of a sales commission for other employees.

    Pros

Close to the Galleria. Good parking. Nice office. Good nearby places to eat for lunch. Nothing else.

    Cons

No pto; terrible management who will lie and spread rumors directly to your face; expensive benefits; management that just doesn't care about the employees; difficult employees who are flat out crazy and hard to get along with. This place will drain your sanity!!

    Advice to Management

Quit screwing good people over in favor of the corrupt.

    Pros

Friendly employees. Flexible work hours. A company that gives back to the community. Many opportunities for career advancement and learning something new. Comfortable work surroundings and ample desk space. Team mentality. Like to celebrate.

    Cons

Needs better vacation/pto structure. Need better systems to handle the quick growth. Need more IT resources to build baseline foundation processes. Need better work flow/employee ratio.

    Advice to Management

Offer a better vacation package and improve some basic functions to make day to day work easier. When changes are made, include those that it will affect before it happens and not after.

    Pros

They really care about making work as fun as work can be. We have events like an annual softball game and even had green beer last year for St Patrick's day. It is a small company that is growing so there are definitely pros and cons. I have been able to do alot of different types of things since working here, expanding my experience. Also, everyone is a close family and cares about one another.

    Cons

It is a small company, so the health insurance rates aren't great. Also, since it is growing fast, which is obviously good, can sometimes be overwhelming and be lots of extra work. I guess that's the cost of growing. Nothing really bad.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on the employees. It is worth it. I know everyone appreciates the fun and charitable stuff we do as a company. We also like to hear the good news, so don't forget to always share it with us.
