I have been working at Legal & General Group full-time

    Pros

good office, good location. just about pays the bills

    Cons

The company does not acknowledge its experienced staff, the team managers are shocking, only good for talking nonsense. Most of the experienced staff that hold knowledge have either left or feel demotivated as new starters are coming in on a higher salary then they are. No salary increases, free shares were taken away so the CEO and higher managers could get their big bonuses. Long term career goals are a epic fail.
Job is advertised as personal case managers, but you won’t see the claim again after its been registered, unless someone in the department wants to send you some snotty feedback.
Brush the problem under the carpet rather than fixing it best practise here.

    Advice to Management

    Fix Up.

I have been working at Legal & General Group full-time

    Pros

International company, job security, annual bonus opportunities to work in different areas of financial services

    Cons

Very profit focused and not enough focus given to their employees and customers. They try to do things at the lowest cost but this leads to problems.

    Advice to Management

Please start focusing on ensuring enough resource is given so an excellent service can be provided to customers, and minimizes poor customer experience and unnecessary additional costs.

I have been working at Legal & General Group full-time

    Pros

Can work form home, however becomes a catch 22 with availability then expected at most hours of the day

Support from colleagues who will fight your corner in the daily politics

    Cons

Most staff i know have been treated with utter contempt over relocation from Kingswood to Hove, there has been very little consideration apart from policies that are left for power hungry middle management to enforce and who have no idea about what they can and most importantly what they can't do.

Suspicion that closing of offices will be a cyclical occurrence from now on to cut headcount. No confidence in management at most levels.

    Advice to Management

i don't have the blinkers on and i can read financial statements to know the numbers stack up for long term growth. However, at what internal cost? L&G are now just another company to work for that will erode benefits along the way

    Pros

    Share options
    Free drinks
    Great co-workers

    Cons

Timed on every bit of work you do
Cost cutting is all that counts
Staff try to treat customers fairly but are prevented by company rules/philosophies

    Advice to Management

Please look around you and think where are the people with technical knowledge that you can rely on to take the company forward - oh no, they've all gone cause you didn't value their experience - well I hope it doesn't bite you on the bum

    Pros

Good people and very approachable and are always willing to help and assist. Genuine desire to put the customer first. Generally a good work/life balance.

    Cons

CEO too dominant and pays lip service to a lot of his public pronouncements. Need many more ladies in senior positions in the organisation, where is the internal pipeline?

    Advice to Management

Don't have as many actuaries in senior roles. Handle communications better, Kingswood could have been dealt with so much better.

    Pros

Flexible working, good support and opportunities across the business.

    Cons

Closure of kingswood office dealt with terribly. Don't seem to value or try to retain good staff anymore. Poor market pay unless they "like you"

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your staff and stop ignoring them on key matters. Make an effort to retain decent staff

    Pros

Some great people. Relatively good work life balance. Annual bonus, providing your manager is fair, which was not often..

    Cons

Constant restructures, having to apply for your own job at least once a year. A slow pace with decisions taking so long to implement that they lack relevance once finished.

    Advice to Management

up the tempo. Try and keep the quality staff and cut the deadwood, not do the opposite.

I worked at Legal & General Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Hard to think of many at the time of leaving. I guess if you're a manager grade or above the package (rather than salary) is quite good. There are also some really good individuals who really do care.

    Cons

I worked at L&G for more than 5 years and when I joined it was a great place to work, quite paternalistic towards staff and there was a good work life balance. No more! They have cut numbers so far that people are so over worked and stressed that they are quite literally keeling over. Morale is rock bottom in the Kingswood office, which they are closing in 2018. There's also a huge technical debt and analysis paralysis is rife
