I have been working at Legal & General Group full-time

    Pros

International company, job security, annual bonus opportunities to work in different areas of financial services

    Cons

Very profit focused and not enough focus given to their employees and customers. They try to do things at the lowest cost but this leads to problems.

    Advice to Management

Please start focusing on ensuring enough resource is given so an excellent service can be provided to customers, and minimizes poor customer experience and unnecessary additional costs.

I have been working at Legal & General Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work life balance. It's like tumbleweed after 5

    Generally good people.

I have to write twenty words. Twenty words.

    Cons

Terrible management structure. It's not clear who is in charge. I.e duplicate department with similar names. Heads of this and that which sound like the same job.

    Lack of strategic direction operationally.

    Awful and obstructive IT.

    Lots of talking, little action.

Systems well behind others in industry

    Insane levels of politics

    Everything is mediocre.

    Advice to Management

Make it clear who has responsibility for what and publish this openly.

I worked at Legal & General Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Large organisation with plenty of different opportunities. Seemingly nice environment - most people are friendly and helpful.

    Cons

There's an element of inertia to changes (some of the IT systems were very dated but the expense of a major overhaul was just too high a barrier). And like most other workplaces, there's politics. Though here, many things happened beneath the surface e.g. the handling of restructures was quite ruthless and the surprise element added to the blow. And also minor annoyances like health care benefits was only provided to senior management (which I found rather insulting as everyone should be provided healthcare... and there's a good argument that lower paid staff would need the financial assistance more).

I worked at Legal & General Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, good pension as you'd expect, nice offices in Hove and Cardiff,

    Cons

It's incredibly bureaucratic and difficult to get anything through to fruition. I spent a lot of my time at L&G dealing with politics which made it difficult to progress.

    Pros

Well paid for the local area

On the whole, great group of people to work with

    Cons

Managers who do not understand the work that you do
    "Face fits" culture
    Micro Management

    Advice to Management

Stop bearing down on staff and using EG and the phone systems to beat your staff with, They are productivity tools, NOT staff management tools.

I have been working at Legal & General Group full-time

    Pros

Can work form home, however becomes a catch 22 with availability then expected at most hours of the day

Support from colleagues who will fight your corner in the daily politics

    Cons

Most staff i know have been treated with utter contempt over relocation from Kingswood to Hove, there has been very little consideration apart from policies that are left for power hungry middle management to enforce and who have no idea about what they can and most importantly what they can't do.

Suspicion that closing of offices will be a cyclical occurrence from now on to cut headcount. No confidence in management at most levels.

    Advice to Management

i don't have the blinkers on and i can read financial statements to know the numbers stack up for long term growth. However, at what internal cost? L&G are now just another company to work for that will erode benefits along the way
