I have been working at Legal and General Investment Management full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great supportive management Good pay Flexible working

    Cons

Lack of opportunities for progression Poor it systems Poor training at times

    Advice to Management

There needs to be more clear straightforward steps to progression as there is a high turnover of keen people leaving the business due to this reason which creates a knowledge gap as more experienced people are leaving.

I worked at Legal and General Investment Management full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Met some nice people. They have all left.

    Cons

The culture at LGIM, for the number of years that I worked there, demonstrated loads of cronyism. The training and development is well invested in so it takes a while to realise that you don't actually have the support of your managers, and that only mates of the bosses will be promoted. This is not bitterness, rather the company putting on a front. Quite appalling behaviour is tolerated as long as the person has... the support of senior management, with plenty of people recruiting from their old companies. Remuneration is below industry standard, which was fine when the company was more supportive of a work-life balance but becomes a joke now. There is a lack of transparency and honesty in the organisation.

I worked at Legal and General Investment Management full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Plenty of wonderful people and lots of opportunities to socialise - If you have an idea you'll probably be given the green light to run with it - Opportunity to move between teams - Good name to have under your belt - Great exposure to senior fund managers - It's a good place to be terms of where the market is heading as in focus on passives & sustainability - Great work/life balance

    Cons

    - Renumeration lower than industry average and falling (especially bonuses) - Outdated tech/zero emphasis on technological innovation - Notoriously limited and random career progression at least in distribution, you get promoted by playing the game - Some massive egos in senior positions - Really political across both distribution and investments - Zero organisation which isn't what you expect from an enormous... company (maybe because it's grown too fast) - CIO is a bully - Little incentive to evolve in any of the above areas

I have been working at Legal and General Investment Management full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good people and flexible working.

    Cons

Discretionary bonus comprises a substantial portion of overall income in the job that I perform. Upon the offer of employment, I was told that bonus range was a certain figure which induced me to sign on. A year later upon the announcement and payout of that bonus, I found that the bonus range was never to be and by quite a substantial amount. I found this to be completely irreconcilable with the amount I was first... indicated.
