I worked at Lehman Brothers (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked for Lehman after an acquisition that took place in 1999. The company maintained several of the founding management to transition. The company culture was clearly different from the corporate offices in NY. They were very generous and obviously believed in our company and therefore believed in its managers. This as communicated very well early on in the transition.

    Cons

Like many legacy organizations Lehman was not very nimble in being able to manage their investments including our company that they acquired. Clearly decisions were made from up top without strong enough oversight. While our company was eventually sold as a performing asset in the bankruptcy - it is the many investments that were made without such oversight that contributed to the demise of this legendary institution.

    Advice to Management

There is no management anymore. My company was purchased by Lehman in 1999 and sold out of conservancy, I believe, in 2010.

I worked at Lehman Brothers full-time

    Pros

It was a great company at the time. There were lots of good people. It was relatively small and scrappy. Great place to be on the street.

    Cons

It's a shame what happened. The bankruptcy, chapter 11 and subsequent global financial collapse limits everyone's career prospects.

    Advice to Management

Turn off the spigot of Real Estate, CDOs, CLOs, Archstone and all the other bad asset.
