I have been working at Leica Biosystems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Everyone seems happy and engaged with the work. Great work life balance and support/comraderie. Management tools are useful.

    Cons

Not many windows in the office. A shaded place to sit outside and eat would be nice.

I worked at Leica Biosystems full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Food is offered at times. When clients come in or training is conducted for its employees , you can eat the food they leave behind.

    Cons

Way too many to list. Low pay. Rampant Favoritism. Unobtainable deadlines, and being left in the dark to figure it all out on your own. Upper management is over pretentious, at times condescending, and if you like smelling a gymnasium, with no windows, then you’ll love working here. Don’t be caught looking at your cell phone or you’ll be targeted. Constant dumb “team” meetings almost daily and most of all, there is no motivation to perform better. By my third month, I was looking elsewhere for employment and couldn’t wait to leave.

I worked at Leica Biosystems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The sales leader- Mary is really great. I think she can and is influencing a lot of good change for the organization. Vision24 is really a good mission statement. There are opportunities because the company is fast growing BUT I think in Danaher you have to wait a while to move. Sales get a lot of cool incentives. Core histo sales is promising and there are some innovative products from PI. Global company (could be a disadvantage tho in that there are silos)

    Cons

Look at the Glassdoor reviews. There is a reason for a lot of negative comments. Yes often unhappy employees write reviews more. It’s just that I’ve been with this company and have seen firsthand how employees are treated. Career advancements are given out very unfairly. If you can learn to use your brain and can fit the picture (meaning white, attractive female or male) your in. Look at the leadership positions and the diversity involved. Danaher is a very cut and dry environment. Sales training is virtually non existent. There is always push to sell sell and sell but without any proper training. Some of the newer products were hyped up for so long and launched way too late. I have had customers go to competition because they got tired of waiting around for Leica to figure out when the products can be delivered installed etc. I do like their applications people who knows what they are talking about. Marketing is an absolute joke. There is so much turnover you never know who will be there. There is almost little to no thought put into marketing. I have reached out to inquire about going to different trade shows or even events to showcase Leica instruments like how the competition does it. If you are in sales, be prepared to always get called on asking what is going on with customers “they found”. I think they like to get cocky when they can take credit for sales even though I was working with that customer already. Other than some outdated flyers and robot videos, don’t expect much. Contracts take days and weeks. I think they have a good process but can’t keep up. I don’t know if they realize customers will sign the best contract they get and sometimes we are too late to get something to them. Positions take forever to be filled and more often they end up hiring people with the least experience and expect to turn around and make $$

    "Just Don’t."

    I worked at Leica Biosystems

    Pros

Well, benefits from what I understand are good. But you work your tail off to the bone. At least the paycheck doesn’t bounce.

    Cons

Careful of what you say. The typical conversation and banter ends up being taken seriously and you’re being hauled in front of the manager explaining your actions during a harmless conversation. There is a lot of “special” favorites, and if you’re not one of them..well your time is short with this company. Besides that: You’re worked extremely hard, and your paid nominally at best and your sweat and effort isn’t noticed. However, make a mistake, you have a target on your back. So, make sure you have your brown nosing skills in order or you won’t go far. Don’t forget that micromanaging and constant looking over your shoulder is typical. Even if you’re working, they perceive you’re not doing your job in the first place. Management likes to not trust their employees. If you’re used to that, you’ll fit right in!
