I have been working at Leica Microsystems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Best imaging technology and software in the industry. Feels like a small company but with benefits of being part of a large corporation (Danaher). You work closely with great people across the organization as a team, but have access to all the things a large corporation offers.

    Cons

A lot of change with new hires in the field and in management rolled out last year, but changes are improving the organization,

    Advice to Management

Changes were rolled out very quickly - give them some time to take effect. Promote more from within.

    Pros

Danaher umbrella, so opportunities to move around. Traveling grants points that can be used for vacations. Basically schedule your own work. Money given for a vehicle (not very much though).

    Cons

overworked and not enough pay for areas with high cost of living. given a standard pay that doesn't change from the south to the northeast. No work life balance. Have to pay for expenses from own pocket and then reimbursed, this can be as high as 1500$ every week. Hard to take a sick day when traveling.

    Advice to Management

Hire more FSE. Find a way to lower cost on the FSE during travel as this can cause debt on our end. Increase the pay for areas where the cost of living is too high.

    Pros

The field of microscopy is booming and the company is growing.

    Cons

Too many chiefs and not enough blue collar peeps.

    Pros

There are some great people to work with.

    Cons

Management team was cut-throat and horrible. Rapidly changing priorities and no clear directions to lower levels. Some senior leaders used hostility and other tactics to run their teams - resulted in high turn-over. Values pinching pennies versus building value and satisfaction for employees.

    Advice to Management

Keep your employees happy. Poor morale leads to poor performance.
