I worked at Leica Microsystems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some great people to work with.

    Cons

Management team was cut-throat and horrible. Rapidly changing priorities and no clear directions to lower levels. Some senior leaders used hostility and other tactics to run their teams - resulted in high turn-over. Values pinching pennies versus building value and satisfaction for employees.

    Advice to Management

Keep your employees happy. Poor morale leads to poor performance.

Not too many pros that I can think of. Benefits used to be good. Not so much anymore. The products we sell are nice.

    Cons

There is no clear direction of where the company is headed. Leadership is a revolving door. High turnover rate. Poor morale in the department. Nobody seems happy at work

I have been working at Leica Microsystems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent products with cutting edge technology. Decent and growing market size. Good benefits. OK salary.

    Cons

Too many weird people in the office and in the field . Lots of office politics. Crazy turnover. Complicated reorganization keeps going on. Very little room for career advancement. Employees are not evaluated based on performance, rather than relationship with managers.

    Advice to Management

Office politics kills motivation. Talented people are sacrificed in management battle. Doomed in a long run.

I have been working at Leica Microsystems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Leica Microsystems is part of the Danaher corporation and therefore managed in a very efficient way. There are plenty of very talented and driven people across the organization. Leica invests a lot into new developments and since recently also spends a lot of efforts in employee satisfaction. Leica is making a lot of positive progress right now.

    Cons

The company is fast paced. Initiatives or tasks that elsewhere take weeks are supposed to be done in days. This works often yet associates have to get used to it.

    Advice to Management

Continue to lead the necessary change in letting us rethink some of our historic processes. I hope the executive leadership team becomes a bit more stable than in the past.

Most of the people in service are great but those exceptions are what made it a rough place to work for the last 2 years.

    Cons

No communication from management or upper management. No connection between working hard and getting advancement or more pay.

    Advice to Management

Communicate and understand the value of your employees better.
