I worked at Lend Lease full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to work. They take excellent care of their employees and offer additional training for those who want to progress in the company. Very good salary and benefits

    Cons

Some long hours are required but this is true with any construction management company. If you chose this field, you can expect to have to put in extra hours as the project requires.

    Pros

So many opportunities for growth and it is one of the best General Contractors in the world.

    Cons

You must be able to think on your feet and be able to solve problems on a daily basis. It can be a difficult job for some people.

I have been working at Lend Lease (More than a year)

    Pros

Work on very big projects and gain a lot of experience. Good salary and benefits and they really try to develop their workers.

    Cons

Work at least 50 hours a week usually, some saturdays. Sometimes work as much as 70-80 hours a week. Some workers don't take blame for things that are their fault, like to point fingers.

    Advice to Management

recognize when workers are overworked and try to help. Recognize those who are doing a good job.

I worked at Lend Lease full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lendlease is an great company to work for. I would not have left if it weren't for the fact that I moved across the country. The company truly cares about it's employees and it's communities. They have community day, LGBT resource groups, stress reduction classes, and an amazing Christmas party each year. I'm sure it depends on where you work, but my management was awesome and incredibly supportive. More importantly, the people are what makes this place. Everyone is very friendly and supportive of each other. There is very little "office politics" as compared to other places I've worked.

    Cons

A little "behind the times". Need to add more collaboration spaces, some "play" areas and be more open to remote work. - they ARE working on it though.

    Advice to Management

From my perspective (again, I'm sure it depends on what area you work in), just keep on doing what you are doing. It is great to see management that cares about you and your career path.

  6. "Tough company to work for"

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

You will work on some of the biggest projects going on in the industry with very experienced people who know what they are doing. Company truly cares about developing their employees with various trainings and programs, and seminars. Benefits are some of the best seen in the industry.

    Cons

In an industry known for being unprofessional, this work environment is probably the most unprofessional ever seen....especially if out in a field office. Company will promote ways to balance work and life issues, but will work you as many hours needed. Expect to work 10-12 hrs a day, even up to 16-18 hrs (not kidding). Weekend work is mandatory for everyone even if you are in a high up in the company.

    Advice to Management

The construction industry is rapidly changing, get with the times and stray away from old techniques and standards. Look to become more modern with procedures and guidelines that effectively use company resources.

    Pros

    Cons

    Large, public, conservative, reporting heavy.

    Pros

Good benefits. Excellent emphasis on employee safety and well-being. Excellent place to learn a variety of skills.

    Cons

Work-life balance can be difficult. Change can be slow with a larger company like this. Some sections of the business are better suited as short-term career stops rather than long-term career building.

I have been working at Lend Lease (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity to get exposed to multi million dollar projects.

    Cons

There is no management, the senior executives just want their name thrown under the bus. They instead blame and power move the younger PM's. I do believe it is a network of a glorified good boy system. They don't want to pay what you are worth. They don't want to listen to ideas. They will get rid of anybody who doesn't fit their mold.

    Advice to Management

Stop thinking about yourselves, and start look at the program. Understand the process before you start pointing fingers.

I worked at Lend Lease full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great staff in the middle management range- true pioneers of the companies auccess

    Cons

All upper management is becoming Australian- and internal growth is almost non-existent. People hired without internally publicizing first- special policies against written policies

    Advice to Management

Look at your own people- those who hung around during tough times to keep the company moving and growing!

Reward people more often for their efforts!
