I worked at Leo Burnett full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great perks and benefits. Many great, smart co-workers and blue chip clients.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the position I was hired to do wasn't cultivated as it should have been and I, sadly, ended up being a paper pusher. Very disappointing to say in 2016 but they made sure the "boot licker" older male in the department ended up in a good job while women that had much more experience ended up as paper pushers. This was like a bad marriage - the gig started off with so much promise and then you realize you married the wrong guy. Better and happier agencies, that treat their people equally in Chicago for sure.

    Advice to Management

More women in top management - EVERY single department.

I worked at Leo Burnett full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic people, semi-decent culture, have you heard of The Breakfast?

    Cons

This is not the best agency in the business. Management is super old-school and the culture is incredibly outdated. Leadership is very disconnected with what is going on at the day-to-day level and is not interested in retaining talent.

    Advice to Management

Get with the times and focus on your people.

I worked at Leo Burnett (More than a year)

    Pros

-Good opportunities to do work above your level
    -Lots of days off
    -Awesome summer and holiday parties
    -Decent work/life balance

    Cons

-Huge lack of collaboration, very individualized work efforts 99% of the time
-Lack of communication as well, would sometimes wait up to 7+ days for project feedback
-Focused entirely too much on awards and not on the people making the work for them
-Here, Leo Burnett is a deity, and senior management has been drinking his Kool Aid for decades. If you disagree with his values or work, you'll get more than your fair share of criticism and dirty looks.
    -Stuffy corporate culture

    Advice to Management

Stop running your agency like Leo just founded it yesterday/back in the 30s.

    Pros

The Leo Burnett Human Truth as the "architect" of every successful ad campaign is a good working process.

    Cons

Too much power struggle in positions and overthrow of power towards employees. Too many indian expats and two faced people.

    Advice to Management

Focus on creativity & not self interest.

    Pros

Good client portfolio. Nice facilities. Free coffee.

    Cons

Top management was clueless about new-business acquisition and valuing their employees.

I worked at Leo Burnett full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, like moving to different positions this is the place! People here are great, however underlings are afraid of their own shadows for fear of being watched by management.

    Cons

Secretive with everything they do regarding employees. Your job title is different than the next person doing the same job, thereby allowing them to 'eliminate position'. Initial training is poorly managed and rules change daily.

    Advice to Management

    Get over yourself.
