I have been working at Leonardo DRS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    High quality of engineers
    Good benefit package
Work schedule (off-Friday every other week)
    Tuition Reimbursement Program

    Cons

    Ineffective communication between departments
    Ineffective Quality Control
    Low production standards
Management only cares about meeting deadlines
Office space is not conducive to happiness at workplace, very outdated sense of employee satisfaction i.e NO WINDOWS, old conference rooms, small outside area, cafeteria space is so bland with vending machines and unhealthy options, no gym or gym membership help, desk space is often dusty, this is not a place that you see and wish you could work there. No sense of company culture or community.

    Advice to Management

Quote smarter, slow is fast (pay attention to your own advise), listen and care about your team's needs and observations, Quality is everyone's responsibility!

    Pros

For a defense firm, they do their best to keep their people on through contract changes. It doesn't always work out, of course, but if you are a valuable employee, they try.

    Cons

Heavily fortified silos in a matrix environment with shared resources and competing priorities; nature of the industry if you want to stay in business. Also very risk adverse; if you do not check all the customers' boxes for labor category requirements, years of experience unlikely encourage management to ask customers' consideration.

    Pros

None to speak of. Not a bad location.

    Cons

Extreme turnover including most senior management. No one I know still works there. They've all quit or fallen victim to the numerous RIFs. Fairly toxic work environment.

I have been working at Leonardo DRS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Melbourne has come a long way and the future looks bright. Overall I think people are happy. It seems like the company, at least in my area, actually cares about career development and helping people further themselves instead of locking them into one job.

    Cons

Add more PTO time. Splitting up PTO into vacation and sick time really sucked, now only 2 weeks of actual vacation time a year. Certainly not a selling point when trying to attract new talent.

There are still a couple departments that are headed by people who think it's them vs the world. On the up side I think this mentality has been on the decline.

I think there's a super high level of competitiveness at the C-level which can be good, however I see it really hurt other locations. Some locations are so focused on winning and end up creating a really toxic work environment that creates a cyclical pattern, and then they're left wondering how they got into their current mess.

I worked at Leonardo DRS full-time

    Pros

The company benefits package was good

    Cons

This company couldn't win new business if their life depended on it! As a matter of fact, they haven't won any new business in a long time! You wonder why the parent company keeps a division that is under-performing. It's more important to management to have their Salesforce updated rather than to sell something. My advice would be to look for a company that knows how to be much more competitive and knows how to win new business!

    Advice to Management

    Get back to basics.

    Pros

Cannot think of too many.....once they had profit sharing...once they had a pension.....once it was a good place to work with upward potential.

    Cons

Cut throat, uncaring and clueless management, no upward potential, layoffs, years of service and dedication do not matter. Just wait for axe to fall on next group and hope you are not in that group

    Advice to Management

When you have rules and ethical codes of conduct, they apply to everybody not just the ones you do not like. There have been multiple examples of blatant ethical code violations overlooked by management. On the other hand good hard-working employees have been victims of a core of unscoupulous management personnel. One favorite tactic is putting people on a PIP. (Performance improvement Plan) I know of two instances where unwarranted PIP's were given to hard working, loyal employees. Events were fabricated to try to demote or eliminate employees without any facts or supporting evidence. As a matter of fact, both employees fought the PIP by calling the ethics hotline......both employees won their cases and the PIP's were dissolved.....like they never existed. Moreover. One employee went from a demotion and loss of wages to a stellar review and a raise. This is the kind of company you have to deal with if you work here. Just being honest honest.
