I worked at Lerch Bates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting consulting work and small-company feel. ESOP Corp with good benefits including 401K and stock ownership for employees. Some personal growth opportunities exist.

    Cons

Some territorial walls exist between groups and individuals. No real training program is in place. Modest PTO allowances include any time off needed due to employee illness.

    Advice to Management

Break down the walls. Increase PTO allowances for customary vacation time plus some days expected off due to illness.

I worked at Lerch Bates full-time

    Pros

Nice people on a personal level. Competing pay, good benefits.

    Cons

People on a business level are jerks. Everyone talked about everyone and made for a harsh work environment. If you got applauded for a job well done, everyone was talking crap about you behind your back. The consultants treat their admin like the lowest of the low. Worst office environment I've ever experienced. The technology is very far behind and their procedures are the most lacking I've seen at any company.

    Advice to Management

Stick up for your people. Quit being scared of being honest with your employees. Realize that negativity that you create. I understand companies need to make money but the stigma... everyone is always so stressed out, they can't even be cordial to one another.

I have been working at Lerch Bates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A great group of specialized and talented people with varied backgrounds and focused leadership. A great place for the self-motivated with a positive world view!

    Cons

It is work, all jobs require it. To compare the negatives of working at Lerch Bates to the negatives of working for the Elevator Companies, too few exist to mention.

    Advice to Management

Daily time entry can be a beating...

    Pros

Good work-life balance, room for advancement, engaging work with direct relation to industry

    Cons

General managers weren't always sensitive to employees needs and often delegated responsibilities without making sure that the employees had the training required to do the work. Sarcasm and other inappropriate conduct was often tolerated more often than appropriate.

    Advice to Management

Regional managers could give more attention to branch locations, making sure that operations are taking place in an efficient and hospitable environment. More attention should also be paid to make sure that new hires are given an appropriate welcoming and sufficient training to perform their work effectively.

    Pros

Interesting, exciting work. Can be very challenging.

    Cons

Management has tried to turn the consulting services offered by Lerch Bates into a commodity. Insufficient attention is spent on training and maintaining industry knowledge. Too much focus on $ and growth vs quality of services provided.

    Advice to Management

Focus on customer service and employee knowledge growth.

    Pros

The people make Lerch Bates what it is.

    Cons

Senior management is too focused on $, and trying to turn LB into a "large" company. Need to return to core businesses and focus on customer.
