I worked at Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
They off competitive non-profit pay, excellent benefits and time off. With a small chapter staff, each employee really has the opportunity to get their hands in all aspects of business - there is opportunity for those that are motivated. Working towards a great mission makes any job easier and they have a great reputation for putting funds towards finding a cure.
Upper management at my location often lacked tact and professionalism in many different settings. Issues were brought to the attention of national-level HR, which seemingly chose to ignore proven complaints in order to keep a longtime employee. The environment became way too stressful to deal with on a daily basis. I'm sure this is not the case across the board, but was my experience at one location.
Advice to Management
I think it is a great company, overall. One of the biggest roadblocks to improved success is the lack of public knowledge of the organization. Marketing of LLS seems to pale in comparison to other large non-profits, where people will donate and volunteer simply because they are familiar with the name/logo. I truly believe LLS offers some of the best volunteer events and experiences, not to mention one of the best returns...Leukemia & Lymphoma Society2011-02-09
