I have been working at Level 3 Communications full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great product set and customer demand and lot of talented people as coworkers. Decent benefits and good pay for this industry.

    Cons

System issues and constant changes. Work life very dependent on management. Upper management can be unapproachable. Sales job is very demanding of skills outside of normal skill set for sales organizations.

    Pros

    > You may happen to work in a very nice building.
    > You will get paid until the needs of the business determine otherwise.
    > You will be treated as royalty in the event that you are a VP or above.
    > You can take comfort in the knowledge that your pay will remain consistent and unchanged for the extent of your employment.
    > You will be provided all of the tools you may require to be successful in your new position, as long as such tools do not require cost or effort and you can locate them without assistance.
    > Your self starting skills will become finely honed. You will be provided the opportunity to teach yourself things you never thought possible.
    > The company cares a great deal for it's employees as long as such caring does not conflict with the needs of the business.

    Cons

I can' t think of any.

    Advice to Management

Enjoy those golden parachutes, and best of luck on the next great company you optimize from a top down perspective! Congratulations on consolidating and subsequently eliminating a once vibrant and diverse Colorado Telecom job market.

I have been working at Level 3 Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Level 3 offers good but not great benefits.
Was just purchased by CenturyLink so that may be positive.

    Cons

Lots of micro management and lack of good management.
Policies are determined by manager meaning if your manager changes, so does the flexibility which was previously agreed to.

I worked at Level 3 Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Manager level and below employees are awesome. There are some awesome people at Level 3.

    Cons

The most toxic environment I have ever been in. Director level management has been around way too long and can't get past "This is the Level 3 way" mentality. Get over yourselves!!

    Advice to Management

Hire a management team that knows how to lead and motivate people instead of forcing unreachable challenges. Invest in your people and infrastructure. Hopefully the Century Link acquisition will help fix some of these problems.
