I worked at Levin Furniture part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked a temporary, part-time project for the company in 2016 and was very impressed. I have also been a very satisfied customer for over 20 years. The company is highly employee and customer focused and the culture is very open and welcoming. They make a sincere effort to support the local communities in which they do business. Opinions and suggestions are encouraged, the leadership team is accessible and the training provided was thorough.

    Cons

I did not experience any negative aspects of the company.

    Advice to Management

The culture is outstanding. As the company continues to expand, continue to remain focused on your most valuable assets, your employees and your customers.

I have been working at Levin Furniture (Less than a year)

    Pros

opportunity to make a decent amount of money. Company does a lot for charities and the funiture selection is a lot higher than most stores

    Cons

employees are kept in the dark about a lot of things and are treated like they are beneath management instead of as a colleague.

    Advice to Management

include your employees more in what's going on and treat them how you would like to be treated. The company is on the right track but needs a few tweaks to improve employee morale.

I worked at Levin Furniture full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A pro is Robert making employees feel welcome. Friendly co-workers, Good pay. Nice showroom with quality furniture to sell.

    Cons

I see a lot of commonalities of these reviews here! As you can see employees like Robert. The problem is clearly coming from his district and corperate folks whom he has running the show and who do not care about employees. Way too many sales people. They have company training by computer but you go it on your own and sales people help you more than management.

    Advice to Management

Robert - tune into your company!!
Management care more about your associates because they are the ones helping you get bonuses!

I worked at Levin Furniture (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great atmosphere, good coworkers.

    Cons

    The pay wasn't that great.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.

I worked at Levin Furniture full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family owned, community oriented, and nice employees. Furniture is nice, sometimes the sales are good. Robert Levin is really funny and likes to talk and meet his employees! Very cool

    Cons

Training is basically non-existent, you have to figure it out on your own. 60-90 day probation period to hit your numbers. If you don't hit you are out. Now they have 30 sales people on the sales floor. If you're not an experienced furniture sales person, don't waste your time with this place. In comparison, value city has 16 people on the floor and bobs furniture is the same. With 30 people on the floor it's impossible to hit your goals. Also I'm not someone who did not make it at this company. I worked their for years and recently left because of this recent problem. The higher ups only care about money and numbers. Not people-

    Advice to Management

Innovative companies care more about helping their employees than sales. They find ways to make both sides work together and everyone wins. In this economy people can't work in these conditions.

    Pros

    No real pressure.
Quotas were easy to hit, as long as you made yourself available on the sales floor.
Most co-workers were friendly and made the time there enjoyable.

    Cons

Employees will steal sales if you're not careful.
    Sink or swim atmosphere.
There can be a lot of downtime in between customers.

    Advice to Management

Employees have families and lives outside of work, please do not forget that. One reason I left was because my manager thought the latest sale was more important than being in the hospital with my wife giving birth to our first child.

I have been working at Levin Furniture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - clean warehouse
    - management that actually cares about employees
    - employees often treated with food (from catered Christmas banquet to random boxes of doughnuts)
    - the work is not that difficult
    - shift time (first shift runs from 5 to 1:30)

    Cons

The primary con of the job is the pay rate. While it starts out high for the area (10.30$), it is difficult to make much more money quickly. Also, the shift time (first shift runs from 5 to 1:30). Yes, depending upon the individual, this is both a pro or a con.

    Advice to Management

Consider offering larger raises. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
