Pros

Some great people work there. Thoughtful, kind, unappreciated, hard working, efficient and dedicated long timers.

Cons

New management has been a nightmare. Recent merger axed everybody who had a real understanding of how a law firm runs. New people in charge are inept, deceitful and uncaring. Morale is shot to hell. Nobody at the top understands how a law firm is supposed to run. No loyalty. No scruples. Lies, more lies and more lies. Such a shame. Used to be such a wonderful place to work.

Pros

It is a nice office in the Tabor Center on the 16th Street Mall. Free bus pass. $25 a month toward health club membership. Mostly nice people.

Cons

From a staff point of view, the mergers have seemed more like hostile takeovers. Legal secretaries and other staff have been completely marginalized. There have been several rounds of layoffs. Bonuses and all but the smallest of raises have been eliminated. There has been a big devaluation of anyone who is not billing. All offices in all states are managed out of Phoenix on a “need to know” basis, and they think staff doesn’t need to know anything until after the fact.

Pros

It is a paying job. Some of the attorneys are understanding of staff issues, although they can no longer do anything about it. It is likely a good company for attorneys and higher level executives.

Cons

Mergers are stressful. But the severe lack of knowledge of anything even remotely pertaining to your job by the new management is abysmal. Bonuses and anything beyond cost of living increases are gone. Anything oriented for the staff is gone, including company picnics. However, attorneys get weekly lunches, go on retreat and are treated as the main focus of the company. The company is not staff friendly.
