I worked at Lewisville Independent School System part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Independent, nice kids, decent pay

    Cons

Certain months slow (march STARR testing). I only did exclusively high school though

    Advice to Management

None really. Except teachers shouldn't give only 4 bathroom passes per month!!

    Pros

They are flexible and you get to work with great people.

    Cons

It is a public school district so no overtime.

    Pros

District provides standard benefits, and has good work-life balance.

    Cons

Co-workers were disrespectful, and supervisors are extremely biased. Pay is not competitive.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone fairly, regardless of how long they have been working with the district. Favoritism is evident.

I worked at Lewisville Independent School System part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy on the body, simple task list, work with a team, and work with students who WANT to succeed

    Cons

None that I can think of. There are the occasional teacher or supervisors that aren't really in it to win it but that's true for any job

I have been working at Lewisville Independent School System full-time

    Pros

New superintendent Dr. Rogers is fantastic!

    Cons

Advancement continues to be political...who you know, who likes you, etc. Repetitive nepotism in departments- when we are told it's not allowed.

    Advice to Management

Rules apply to everyone (department nepotism). Exceptions should be made for all if they will be made for one.

I worked at Lewisville Independent School System (Less than a year)

    Pros

Vibrant community with deep roots in legacy experiences. Small town feeling with big town accessibility. Passion for tradition is present in the student body enthusiasm. Technology accessibility is a priority...which was AWESOME! Classrooms are hooked up with sound systems, mics and laptops just on a regular. Athletic leadership is a SAVING GRACE. If you are a willing member of the "in" crowd this place offers a supportive workplace.

    Cons

    If you do not 'fall in line' regarding curriculum, behavior/attitude and involvement expectations (must get your Stepford Wives gear out for this production) get ready to sign on the documented line!!! *I signed twice :}

The walls listen, watch and whisper. Don't let the friendly smiles fool you. I totally did! Even. In. The. Teachers. Lounge. On. Your. Break. Facetious jokes are serious people! SMH.

Attempts will be made to "reel you in" should you be considered a "loose cannon" by the watchers. More of a detrimental pruning aura of development rather than one of guided growth.

Coddling of students via admin's lack of backbone nauseatingly present from years of bending over backwards for parents with entitlement values being fostered to students, but this vicious cycle is present in all of education where weak leadership takes advantage of the 'good ole boy' opportunities within the infrastructure. I digress.

Really silly multi campus situation that students take advantage of when busing between campus' and you can't claim on your taxes because the mileage does not meet the criteria. Ex of possible campus experience- Student attends Harmon for most academic classes(grades 9-10), takes special class only offered at Killough campus (grades 9-10) and then finishes at main campus for athletics. I understand the issue, but it is a cra cra concept. Academically, 11th & 12th grades are housed @ main campus. Each campus has it's own leadership which allows cracks in accountability and discord within the student body.

    Advice to Management

Don't judge a book by it's cover, the first few pages or the summary you copied from the softball coach's diary. Experiencing the chronicle holds much deeper power.

"Loose cannon" label sources are counterproductive to share with employees when documenting nonsense situations to cover your own... Invest in Skele-grow and harvest that backbone!

I have been working at Lewisville Independent School System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

LISD pays well, supports teachers, and is institutionally interested in pushing education forward.

    Cons

Lewisville and its surrounding areas are a nice place to raise a family, but are kind of dull for young people.

    Advice to Management

From my perspective, the district administration seems to leave a great deal of control in the hands of building administrators, and it has worked well as far as I can tell.
