I have been working at Lexia full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lexia does an impressive job of maintaining an excellent work life/balance and employing individuals who are passionate and dedicated to the companies mission. Leadership encourages and supports opportunities for innovation, process refinement, and frequent cross collaboration between various teams. Opportunities for professional development are a corner stone of the company. While the company has grown...

It's important to note that the two items described below are both areas that the company is actively and aggressively working on - which is a testament to their commitment to create a positive work environment for all employees. --> Clear and explicit pathways for professional growth are sometimes unclear making it difficult for employees to clearly grasp the next level to work towards. I worked at Lexia full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent compensation, nice team of other implementation managers. Good HR support. Strong team relationships and opportunities for supporting one another.

    Cons

Inadequate record keeping/project management tools. Tedious, frustrating methods of keeping track of important details for each account. Being an official extension of the sales team with no bonus compensation for retaining large accounts. Extremely large, stressful workload. Processes not always clearly defined.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate the highest level managers with scrutiny. Believe what lower level managers say when voicing frustrations. Don't treat implementation managers like sales managers if they are not compensated in the same way. Possibly consider changing the name of Implementation Manager to Customer Success Manager so that long-term customers see the value of continuing support, since most other companies view Implementation as...

I have been working at Lexia part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great products, HR was helpful and responsive, but with an unclear path for my part-time position, communications went completely dark from the supervisor and many of us weren't sure what the next steps were.

    Cons

Onboarding was average. Unclear expectations at times.

    Cons

I was recruited as a university grad from a reputable university in Boston, however all the excitement to work and be productive was shred to pieces when instead of work, other petty, trivial things including the likes of micromanaging took centerstage rather than the actual work, things like "You are late" or "No work from homes for you" to petty things including "Did not fill the time sheet" took the limelight half...

    Advice to Management

If you are looking to recruit young professional grads with no experience working in the javascript domain, you can as well give them a little time to settle down, as it is the intimidating presence of individuals who have experience worth 12-20 years in the team can be overwhelming, allow the kids to settle in their own pace, give them . more work, showering in words of satisfaction can motivate anyone to perform in...

I have been working at Lexia full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - unlimited vacation that people actually take - lots of very friendly, mission-oriented people - managers at least try to support employee’s career goals even if they can’t do much in practice - decent respect for work life balance and flexible work schedules (depends on manager/team)

    Cons

    - lack of clear ownership on cross functional projects - pay is low for tech field - lack of respect for departmental/individual expertise on their own subject matter. Decisions made by experts get revisited needlessly and then steamrolled by upper management or other departments

    Advice to Management

Make it clear who owns what, and who has the final say about what. Listen to subject matter experts.

I have been working at Lexia full-time

    Pros

The majority of the people at the company really care about the students and educators we serve. The products have a great reputation and make a difference if students' lives. Upper management functions with great integrity and transparency.

    Cons

Lots of growing pains and tension between early employees and new talent.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to the company's mission, keep the focus on strengths (great reading products, great customer support and research, and trusted SMEs) and don't allow the distractions to take center stage. Help managers ease the tension between new employees and old guard, and provide training at all levels of management.

    Pros

    Cons

Horrible Benefits, Healthcare plan does not meet MA state mandate for healthcare because it's provided through the parent company in Virginia. MA residents beware! Old Guard has been here forever and is unwelcoming to new people and new ideas. New people are regarded with skepticism, and kept at arms length, rather than welcomed. Tenured staff never leave. New staff aren't retained. Slow to change and evolve....
