I worked at LexisNexis Legal & Professional (More than 8 years)

    Pros

LexisNexis Legal is one of the best known brands in the industry. Every individual that attends law school uses complimentary LN databases all the way through so if you can't sell this product then you should not be selling. Easy goals to hit to get to annual bonus/clubs compared to other divisions.

    Cons

Low turnover of sales team due to ease of job. Lots of politics and favoritism all the way up the chain and back down, therefore dinosaurs entrenched have the plum accounts regardless of whether they can deliver or not.

    Advice to Management

Although it will never happen, enough with the politics and a**-kissing to get ahead culture. Why not change to a meritocracy? Maybe you'll even compete with Thompson then!

I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lexis has a great reputation in the legal market. Innovative products. Great benefits and retirement plan.

    Cons

Constant change is the norm. Reorganizations are too frequent, many times reactive and not proactive. Upper management (Regional VPs and above) once worked in the field but are now out of touch with the marketplace. Finance MBAs now call the shots in sales, not sales management. The big red flag is layoffs of sales reps. Any company trying to grow long-term revenue has to be questioned when they cut sales force for short-term profitability gains. Appears like they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

    Advice to Management

Why waste my time with advice? They don't listen.

    Pros

benefits, parking, working with good people

    Cons

HR is not on your side, top heavy management, pay is not good at all and no room for advancement

    Advice to Management

Streamline top management and learn what you are trying to teach. Allow your people to work from home to balance work/life which is something you preach but don't do. Company is not customer service focused and are losing customers daily because management can't seem to get it right. Allow your employees to vent and tell you what is going on in the real world.
