    Pros

Good balance, some smart people, and decent benefits. Pay was higher than others as it is a an American company in a lot of ways.

    Cons

Tech is definitely not a core business unit. Projects aren't very ambitious and you get a lot of the traditional bureaucracy.

Use the power of your brands throughout everything you do, that will make people admire the company internally and externally a lot more.

I worked at Liberty Global full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I was lucky to work with and meet great colleagues. Plenty of technologies to learn although the company lags behind the industry. Noone wants to get hands dirty (they are too busy) so if you want, you can learn a lot, do a lot and get lots of experience. Great cantine, gym and good benefits. Free parking, no hassle transportation package and lots of freedom to chose your career direction, if you do it yourself and have some support from management. It takes a year to establish your work life balance here, in some teams you get it right away and in some never.

    Cons

Highly political and nontechnical management, from lowest levels. Getting promoted is impossible unless you are in the clan. Lots of tech decisions with no tech reasoning. Total chaos in many projects. You have to beg teams outside your silos for help. I heard about some cases that I personally classify as mobbing. They can and will outsource your role if they get a chance. No reward for employees that deliver, no training plans (unless you DIY) and very little growth space. People with thin knowledge but good talk get promoted, and experienced and good employees are let go. Contractors take their place, no internal engineering culture is flourishing and you can very hardly grow into a different profile. Once they acquire a company, it gets pretty nasty for employees affected by the merger.

    Advice to Management

Do not lie to your employees and openly say that you want to outsource everything you can and get rid of knowlegeable (expensive) employees. Stop merging by buying and stop destroying acquired companies.
