I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Company car, benefits, vacation days

    Cons

Workload is crazy; look at how many General Adjusters have been leaving the company within the last 8 months; demanding more and more with no compensation; Managers act like they are your best friend until they have to have your back (Regional Managers). Some of the Team Managers are actually very cool people / managers to work for.

    Advice to Management

Look in the mirror. It's not a coincidence that many General Adjusters are leaving the company. If the golden children are leaving Liberty, it's time to make some changes.

"Not a good company unless you are white and young"

    Pros

Good bonus structure and only need to work 37.5 hours a week. Benefits are decent but not the best in the industry.

    Cons

Lack of diversity across age groups and minorities If you are young and white you will do well however. In 2017 Liberty Mutual kicked off a company wide diversity campaign in an attempt to promote diversity. At the same time, reorganized commercial insurance and laid off many positions and did not offer job replacement for any of the minorities that were let go. If you are white, young and educated you will have preferential treatment.

    Advice to Management

Recognize that employees who are experienced have a lot to offer and that regardless of race everyone should be treated with respect and given fair treatment.

    Pros

The people I work with everyday.

    Cons

Always making changes. Yet when problems come up, it takes months to fix. Also, the systems are horrible and there's a different system for every line of business.

    Advice to Management

Fix problems that actually need to be fixed.

    Pros

Training, culture, relationships. Plenty of roles available in Chicago for those willing to challenge themselves. Flexibility and work-life balance are part of everyday discussions.

    Cons

Change is slow. Going through systems changes will help the organization tremendously. The company is making a great effort to empower employees to promote change.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are incredibly nice and I loved my team. My boss was helpful every step of the way and if he was ever out, someone else would always step in to help me out when I needed it. They encourage you to learn, challenge yourself, and grow as a professional. There's never a lack of tasks to do and they will put you in front of the VP's of the region to show what you've learned.

    Cons

The bureaucracy of the company can become really frustrating at time. If you want a tech start up kind of feel where you can get stuff done quickly and your more creative ideas don't have to be run through a bunch of hoops, then this is not the best place for that.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you do for interns cause it really helped me grow a lot.

    Pros

Pay, Benefits, Team Environment, Working Hours, Unlimited Overtime

    Cons

Nit picking, Micro management. If not graduate from prestigious school no chance of advancing. If over 40 yrs old you there is no advancement opportunities(or even working there). Worthless daily sunrise meetings.

    Advice to Management

Lighten up. Numbers aren't everything. Each claim has it's own individual aspects. Customers are people not numbers!!

Non. I can't find anything positive to comment.

    Cons

Racism with age and nationality. There is no room for growth if you are older than 35 and African American. They enjoy hiring right out of college.

    Advice to Management

Listen and promote loyal employees who have been at the job for more than 5 years. Stop hiring college students who have barley graduated.

    Pros

Good company with lots of innovation. Has good focus on customer needs and looking for creative ways to meet and exceed customer needs

    Cons

Overly focused on analytics, to point where it negatively impacts speed to market. Seems to value higher education over experience.
