I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent employee benefits. Great salary structure for those with excellent communication skills and not a college degree. Flexibility with time off is generous and bar none.

    Cons

Internal rep errors cause frustration to peers and customers. Rapidly changing systems prove less efficient than previous versions.

    Pros

    Nice people. Good benefits.

    Cons

Work to life balance is you have no life. Contests are held for who can log in the most over time. Human Resources will do their best to make sure that disabled are given the hardest time getting accommodations, so much so people quit and lawsuits filed. They will make your life hell and going against LMI's own company policy ( As well as several Federal ADA laws and Wage Laws) to get you to go away. Impossible expectations with respects to obtaining goals. Junior management is so swamped they are allowed only 15 min per their staff a day. Training after first couple of week is non existent. You are expected to keep up with the almost daily changes. Upper management considers you a number, not a human. No opportunity to grow unless you want to move out of state. Screwed up accounting systems that will either pay too much or too little, and if you are paid too much..doesnt matter if you got a paycheck that was gross lets say $1325 and they will take the over payment in one lump sum. Check had $1200 taken out. HR doesnt even follow the own Employee Handbook and accept installments as to avoid causing the employee undue stress.

    Advice to Management

Complete audit of your HR department practice to make insure they are following all state and federal laws. They are not. Would also make sure that responses to employees asking for accommodations are responded to in a timely manner. Mine they took over a year. Also they failed to advise my legal FMLA rights, and was TOLD by an HR person they were putting me on unpaid leave. Their actions are illegal and shady. LMI has been sued many times for your HR peoples illegal actions. Take responsibility and set these people straight...or let them go. They financially bankrupted me and my family. My family and I went without food and finally had to apply for public assistance. David Long really needs to take responsibility for HR's actions. ASAP

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great environment, lots of opportunities, great core values, amazing training program, amazing benefits

    Cons

Can be mentally exhausting, sometimes unorganized, upper management makes a lot of decisions without input from employees

    Advice to Management

Supervisors need to be trained to take in concerns from employees rather than shutting negative feedback complete down. Tools and resources are so disorganized and inconsistent it can add so much unneeded stress.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as a contractor

    Pros

    Friendly environment
Company gives lots of time for employees to improve work performance

    Cons

    No room for promotion
Higher ups play favorites when it comes to picking people for special projects.
Have fun getting hired on permanently if you're not one of the favorites, even if your work performance is good.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to workers actually doing their job well and not just those you'd like to think would do well.

    Advice to Management

    Keep trucking

    Pros
