I have been working at Lidl full-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you have no experience, this job pays well.

    Cons

    1. Be friends with your bosses boss outside of work and you'll be promoted. 2. If you're harassed or abused by your manager and you complain to HR, HR will tell them you complained about them. 3. Only the worst people get promoted - 29 year old, unexperienced and aggressive. 4. Poor decision making is often rewarded. 5. Extremely high turnover. 6. I don't understand the good pay comments -- Lidl does not pay... well at all, except if you don't have any experience. 7. I don't know anyone who is happy working for Lidl, when you speak with them candidly. 8. Lidl expects you to berate your external partners who work extremely hard for you. 9. If you treat people the way Lidl wants you to treat them, your career is done. 10. I love how they post fake reviews on Glassdoor.

I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Growing company with many possibilities. Management listens to employees. Great benefits package. Better and better communication. Work/life balance possible.

    Cons

Communications are getting better but still need a bit.

    Advice to Management

Some people work a lot. Make sure work/life balance is possible in the future. Think about making a stress policy, just in case.

I have been working at Lidl full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I truly feel Lidl has great potential, the pay is very decent, the exposure is uncharted, technologically advanced, flex work hours, and the environment is fresh!

    Cons

As a part of the purchasing dept it's one of thee most cut throats and dog eat dog situations you will ever enter. Promotions are based off of who can bark the loudest vs. actual merit and work ethic. Which sucks, cause they have great analyst that constantly get overlooked while new comers jump to the front of the line. I worked really closely with QA and they have the blind leading the blind!! I can't even count... how many delays were encountered due to their sensory teams leadership!

    Advice to Management

Find actual qualified individuals to be Managers, Sr. Managers, and most importantly DIRECTORS! The company can be great, but you have to adjust to USA culture and standard.

I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Opportunity to travel abroad to train, very high salary for employees with very little experience

    Cons

All European upper management - meaning many decisions are made which are wrong for the American market.

I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits (15 days off, 4 floating holidays, 7 sick days, 401k with company match, great health care) Great co-workers Good line manager Opportunity to grow Promotions if you work hard Lidl is for you if you want to grow and are looking for a great opportunity and you are not afraid to put a lot of work into your career. The company will give you endless opportunities, it is up to you if you take them. The... attire at work has changed to casual business attire, yay jeans :) Everyone is very friendly as long as you are friendly too. Depending on the department the communication and also the help you receive from people is very good.

    Cons

Currently longer hours due to the expansion. I normally work between 45 to 50 hours. When you are on salary you do not get paid overtime, hence the reason why you get a salary... when you are paid hourly you do get paid overtime. A lot of last minute request due to the very fast paced environment and because everything is getting finalized for store openings.

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring people to try to lower the workload for everyone. It is already happening but keep up the good work and Lidl will become one of the best places to work.

    "Asset manager"

    Current Employee - Assistant Manager

I have been working at Lidl full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Good salary for managers.

    Cons

Extra long hours, managers work like associates, not allowed to hire staff.

    Advice to Management

Change your style of hiring management. You are hiring experienced retail professionals, not actors. Judging managers on how they perform during situational part of the interview is no way of knowing how they work. Horrible practice

I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lidl offers every individual the chance to grow and take on responsibility. It offers growth and learning opportunities every day. If you want a comfortable job where you don't have to think and everyday is the same then Lidl is not for you, but if you are wanting a secure, yet challenging career then Lidl offers that to all. Good pay and great people! Most employees need to think long term, rather than right here,... right now! Hey, Rome wasn't built In a day!

    Cons

It is sometimes required to put extra hours in, but I also believe when you are dedicated to your career that you would be doing that in any job with opportunities. Also starting a company In new country is never going to be easy- those who really focus on the task with be rewarded in the end, I'm sure!

I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company gives you a company car (GMC Terrain) an IPhone and there is European Travel and training for some Purchasing Managers.

    Cons

This company has poor and unorganized leadership. Often asked to do the same task three or four times over due to terrible oversight. Terrible place to start your career due to lack of training and development. There is conflict with European Management style and American talent, people are often belittled and embarrassed as a coaching mechanism. Company doesn't follow through on promises and commitments. Poorly... trained leaders and promote people not based upon merit, lack of consistency in promotional process. Seek elsewhere if you want a stable company who invests in its people and treats them well. Major issues with diversity and lack of minorities and women in leadership. A point and blame others (other departments, international counterparts) company culture... not one of team building and inclusion.

I worked at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people work there. A lot of responsibility. Young and fun culture.

    Cons

Tone at the top does not respect employee time or concerns. Unqualified and Non-English speaking decision makers create inefficiencies and animosity. Does not respect third party vendors time or work production. Internal organization and communication is poor.

    Advice to Management

Allow lateral communication, use up to date IT systems, employ qualified people externally when no one internally is qualified.
