I worked at Lidl (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly and Helpful work environment, depending on location and other employees. Pay rate is decent.

    Cons

HR Can't seem to get "on the ball" with payroll in order to get employees either paid on time, direct deposit set up right, or paid PERIOD! Bad bad bad business....
Went through 4 wks of rigorous training only to find that we were transferred to other stores after opening the store we were told would be permanent and then hours kept getting cut drastically for all involved with each subsequent week gone by.

I have been working at Lidl full-time

    Pros

    - Managers get a lot of responsibility and opportunities to learn from consultants
    - Great pay

    Cons

    - Head office is very disorganized and often provides half-baked direction with no clarity
    - No regard for consultants or sellers' time or money and employees are often directed to burn bridges

    Advice to Management

    - Decide if you want to build a Lidl on a site before directing employees to put it under contract

I have been working at Lidl full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-If you're a buyer or upper management, you really have nothing to worry about.
-Your department and team are great to work with.
-Giveaways every now and then are nice if you can get to them on time.
-Different food truck outside every day and plenty of food options around if you don't bring lunch with you.
-It can be a relaxed environment if you make it that way

    Cons

-Benefits does a HORRIBLE job of keeping track of things and explaining things. You have to dig through pdf after pdf to find policies, and have to fight through email after email to get something corrected if they messed up your PTO or something like that. They never actually explain things to you and treat you like an idiot if something doesn't make sense to you.
-Parking is a joke. Unless you have a fleet car (buyers and upper management) you need to park at one of two garages about a 1/2 mile from the office.
-Try not to get hit by someone in a fleet car if you're in the building's parking garage. They'll treat it like a race track.
-Literally everything from project management to time sheets are done using Excel 2013.
-Things change way too often. Growing pains are one thing, but no department is ever on the same page when it comes to processes, methods, or organization.

    Advice to Management

-Invest in project management software at the very least. Some of us work in as many as 5 different excel documents a day, and they always change.
-Have all your departments get on the same page, I've gotten comfortable with a system or method only to have it change and disrupt our entire team because one person in a different department did not want to do the extra work involved with it.
-Upper management are constantly in meetings, but nothing seems to come out of them except either more questions or another policy/method/process change.

    I worked at Lidl full-time

    Pros

The management training program was a great experience and very helpful for a new grocery manager in training.

    Cons

Lack of communication from upper management. Many questions from lower management would go unanswered or be answered vaguely.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with expectations and keep lines of communication open.

    Pros

Lidl offers some of the best pay for the area. The people I work with make it even better. The hours are pretty flexible

    Cons

The management team is young and inexperienced. They do not all treat associates the way they should be treated. Not much work life balance.

    Advice to Management

    Management needs better training.

  10. "Overworked and Underpaid"

I have been working at Lidl part-time

    Pros

Interacting with the customers and coworkers

    Cons

Having to do several jobs without the proper monetary compensation.
Being a part-time associate renders you ineligible for healthcare benefits even if you work full time hours.

    Advice to Management

Lend a helping hand instead of only designating responsibilities all of the time.
