I worked at Lids Team Sports full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    A fun, casual working environment.

    Cons

When an opportunity came for me to move to a different department, the supervisor I would have worked with asked me if I was planning on starting a family, because she didn't want to hire someone who would have to take maternity leave. In addition, there is a "boys club" culture, where director level positions are created out of thin air to provide some of the men with higher level paying positions.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps the culture has changed since I left, but this company consistently lacked accountability of directors. Director level employees, especially ones that were part of the "boys club," were held to different standards.

I have been working at Lids Team Sports full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Able to float around and get little done, but look like I am busy. Good benefits for family. Allows plenty of time to search for new job.

    Cons

Little direction on how to improve my skillset and utilize my full ability to transform into the potential leader. I am not mentally challenged and not stimulated as a leader. The unhappiness and detachment is part of the disillusion of the job.

    Advice to Management

Put a priority on face-to-face social contact with staff and support workers to limit the disconnect.

I worked at Lids Team Sports full-time

    Pros

The people I directly worked with are some of the most talented and pleasant people I have ever met.

    Cons

Upper management are entirely too focused on numbers and feel punishment will increase productivity when it only decreased morale.

    Pros

    Cons

new management had no idea what they were doing, sent people from "home" office, who didn't have a clue about the industry

    Advice to Management

hire people who have worked in the industry

    Pros

Laid back atmosphere, casual dress code, people are easy to work with, relatively free to work at your pace to get your work done.

    Cons

Little opportunity for pay increases or growth within the company.

    Advice to Management

Offer pay increases that aren't insultingly low and talk with your employees about the job other than when there is an issue

I have been working at Lids Team Sports full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, coworkers are great friends, and dress is casual to say the least

    Cons

Management is more concerned with their own advancements then helping us understand our systems. Along with that, there is no room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to fill this seat so when the time comes to "promote from within" you can actually do so.

I have been working at Lids Team Sports full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Control Hours, Extremely Flexible, Work-Life Balance, Culture, Great Experience, Great for making connections, Very neat industry to work in, Awesome perks as a sales rep

    Cons

Disorganized, Difficult to get started and make decent money, Little Direction, Very hard to stay motivated, Many issues at headquarters that are hard to handle from remote location at home

    Advice to Management

Don't have the hole for sales reps get larger and larger every single month. It becomes a mind game and very challenging as a new rep with little direction.
