I have been working at Life Time Fitness full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The gym and equipment are top notch. Most of the staff is very friendly.

    Cons

Communication from upper management is slow. Company changes policies and pricings often without consulting or occasionally informing all the affected staff.

    Advice to Management

Use your resources, your workers, to help come up with ideas that will appeal to customers in the area, don't just mandate changes from above.

I have been working at Life Time Fitness part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free membership with employment. Coworkers are great. The facility is beautiful and you also get discounts at the Life Cafe and the Life Spa. I would definitely recommend working here as a student strapped for cash but as a career I would say run away as fast as you can

    Cons

The management is kind of a mess, the hours are not great. The operations team has to be in the club 24/7. The club is open 20 hours a day to the public, from 4am to midnight. The club also doesn't close for any major holidays. The best you can hope for is a late opening or an early close occasionally.

    Pros

Great company! Bahrahm Akradi is a genius!

    Cons

High up management is out of date - They aren't moving fast enough with the demanding trends.

    Advice to Management

Find NEW leadership for your Group Fitness department - current leadership is WAY behind the curve and continues to ignore the BEST talent in the industry that was nurturerd under their roof! Mission is brilliant! Five Star training is brilliant! Two things I will take with me for the rest of my career. I loved this company and won the highest honor awarded for my leadership. I didn't love how stagnant Group Fitness got and that was the reason I left! Terrible choices for leadership in those roles. I would have done things much differently! I have many friends holding on by a thread... It's a powerul department, they could be setting the trends! Not chasing them.

    *Extra discounts
    *Interesting reliable co-workers
    * Fast paced environment
    *Highly motivated Team Spirit

    Cons

    *Lack of appreciation
    *Favoritism
    * the company markets themselves as elite to attract those who will not question being over charged while paying team members as little as possible while working them as hard as possible, many times doing the work of 2-3 people.
    *No workers Union
*Narcissistic, hostile, unprofessional, and unethical management
    *No employee reviews
    *No six month raises
*No time and half on holidays
    *Promotions based on favoritism
    *Harrssment
    *Retaliation
    *High turnover

    Advice to Management

Do your Job. Stop retailiation. Lead by example. Be professional. Promote those who deserve it. Stop with the favoritism. And calling people snitches who are reporting harrssment because if you didn't do something wrong there would be no need to snitch. Grow up.

I have been working at Life Time Fitness part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The other employees, membership, & the focus on health & fitness

    Cons

Budgets and payroll are constantly being cut. The pay is so low, they can't keep good people, therefore turnover is super high. Due to pay being so poor, departments are always understaffed.

    Advice to Management

If you expect an Artistry level club, pay Artistry level wages.
