I worked at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of PTO. Good group of people with a family environment and work that is meaningful.

    Cons

The company needs someone in charge of hiring. The CEO and CFO are great but everyone else in a high up position has no idea how to do their job. IT manager holds everyone back and prevents the entire company from moving forward. The VP has no qualifications, loses the company potential for expansion and single handedly causes long term amazing employees to quit because he has no leadership (or social) skills.

    Advice to Management

Listen to lower end positions. Spend money on other departments and it will pay off.

I worked at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is decent to good, compared to other jobs in the area requiring no experience. The work is extremely easy. Vacation days build quick, and yearly amount increases with time.

    Cons

Little room for advancement. Boring work environment. Most employees do not care about the life saving product they are handling. For a "health-conscious" company, vending machines have only soda and candy. You'll be hard pressed to find water and healthy snacks. Management does not care to hear your opinion on how to improve anything. "It's always been done this way" is the small-minded motto.

    Advice to Management

Hire slow, fire quick! Hire people based off much more than employee referral and attempting to balance ethnic ratios. Listen to employees that care when they say that costs are being wasted in certain areas. When most of your employees in a department are under-performing (resource management), consider firing them if they do not improve. Certainly do not give every single one of them a raise, hoping more money will make them more productive.

    Pros

You can move up quick. You may start out making $11 but within 3 months or so you could get a $2 an hour raise.

    Cons

No set schedule. Buses leave out at all hoirs of thr day so u may have to be at work at 9am on Monday and 6am on Tuesday. Just depends. Family insurance is high but individual is not bad.

    Pros

Great place to learn and grow in the field of customer service. You gain a lot of telephone etiquette skills that can be applied anywhere.

    Cons

You are always expected to be on your A game. You have to always get productivity every month or else they might consider replacing you for another employer.

    Pros

The learning and information that is given and accessible to you from very knowledgeable staff.

    Cons

There is a great disconnect from upper management to level staff to fix or address issues that need attention. The middle level management is not as informative and outspoken to upper management about having a dialogue or bridging the gaps of issues.

    Advice to Management

Have dialogue with all staff whether middle level management or staff so that issues can be addressed and possibly create a department that goes and seeks that information.

I have been working at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This company wants to help save lives and could be great at it but it is by people that don't have a clue how to manage people .

    Cons

Upper management treats its employees like they are slaves. Belittles them they call people out in front of others and disrespect people and some of managers act like they are better then everyone under them .they have lost the reason the company started to help save lives . they need to work in the field and see what it's like.

    Advice to Management

Nancy and Jb needs to take a look at her people skills cause they stink you don't talk down to people and this is not the army . if people respect you they will work harder for you . it's sad cause its the upper management that has lost what the cause is to help save lives. Go ask the field what will work and stand in there shoes for a few days you will fix alot of problems. Ask them before you roll out a program get there in put . and read the employee evaluations. You will see where the problems are. It's management or lack of that is hurting this company

    Pros

The workload was evenly balanced in proportion, you must have been prioritized coming in for simplicity's sake.
You did a variety of duties and found fulfilling lasting relations with coworkers and friends.

    Cons

Sometimes the work was a little physically taxing, under time constraints. We were sometimes caught unawares as
to the instruction learning modules preparation. We needed a little more homework in terms of study guide material to
    decipher from.

    Advice to Management

Make more parking for the direct buildings.

    Pros

They have great pay and benefits. Work with the same people frequently so you become a bit of a "family". Working for a good cause.

    Cons

It can be difficult to communicate with upper management. They hear what you say, but don't always act on it.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the little people. They are the front line.

I worked at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible hours .
Mid managers and fellow staff members were pleasant to work for/with.
It really is hard to think of 20 positive words to say about Lifesouth community blood center.

    Cons

    Lots and lots of micromanaging.
The interview process for an menial admin job was well over an hour.
Kind of disgusting how much upper management / executives make considering it's a non-profit.
    No room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Restructure your top tier pay scales and allocate more of that money to opening new branches and benefiting the people for which blood donation was intended instead of treating it as a money grab for executives.
