If I had to identify a con, it would be growing pains but to be honest- it was a struggle to come up with that! It really is a great company!

    The negatives outweigh any positives.

    Pros

I work with a great group of people and having the ability to make my own schedule. There's a lot of flexibility

    Cons

Everything else. They're not transparent in their billing. I can't seem to get actual information on how patient is paying and what Lifestance is charging for cash paying and financially assisted patients. I just found out I am seeing several patients for 10 to $15 per appointment due to arrangements made by billing . They give people breaks but the provider is not in the decision making loop . The EHR platform is horrible and something goes wrong several times a week. When you're trying to get work done, having your system go down really makes your job difficult. Life stance purchased this well running private clinic and is turning it into a corporate nightmare. Company is hell bent on expansion when they do not have the administrative staff to support it. Administrative services for providers and clinicians has dramatically decreased and more is falling on us. It takes longer to get things done which can result in loss of income because you can't see as many patients. But they still take their percentage of fees. If you complain and make noise they'll target you to get you out.

Love the schedule flexibility, but admin leaves a lot to be desired for 50% of our income

    Mar 5, 2023 - Therapist
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Totally flexible scheduling, intake fills up initial assessment spots quickly with new clients, EHR is easy to use, they have paid parental leave, access to free CEUs (but only through CEUs4less website…. They don’t reimburse for CEUs elsewhere), solid level of clinical support & supervision when needed, no micromanaging

    Cons

Giving away 50% of my income to admin is painful. Especially when admin leaves a lot to be desired. It’s not the admin staff’s fault… I believe they are chronically understaffed but that’s been the excuse given to me for two years now. When a client no shows or late cancels and the therapist bills the appropriate fee, no action seems to be taken by admin to collect it. I have a constant long tally of unpaid fees from clients. And for giving 50% of my income to admin, I do not feel that it’s my responsibility to chase clients for those fees. The billing department is deplorable. Causes massive problems for clients all the time - sometimes causing clients to quit therapy altogether.

    Unreliable and lots of mistakes

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good benefits and the provided offices are nice.

    Cons

Lots of big promises, very little follow through. Unreliable staff, frequent billing and insurance claim mistakes that affect clients and providers, payroll mistakes, unhelpful HR team, and they do not fill caseload like they say.

    Pros

There are no pros to working at Lifestance.

    Cons

Lifestance hired me on, took 3 mos to credential me. They then called me in December telling me that due to the holidays, I would need to start working part-time. When I started working after the holidays, they only gave me a couple. patients per week after hiring me for full time work. Per their request, I continued to work with the hope that my schedule would fill up which it did not. I ended up quitting due to their lack of patients after wasting close to 6 months of my time getting credentialed and then waiting for my schedule to fill up. Lifestance took close to 50% of my pay for their profit. I see all sorts of job openings for Lifestance nationwide with statements that NP can make $250,000 a year. Do not believe this and do not accept employment here as they do not provide enough patients for you to work a full schedule. Lifestance has bitten off more than they can handle.

The downside is that we more employees because the company is growing big, so the work can be a bit much but not impossible.

It is nice working with patients who are eager to attend therapy.

Feb 5, 2023 - Psychotherapist in New York, NY

    Pros

Most of the patients are serious about getting therapy.

    Cons

I have many patients that discontinued therapy because they would receive a huge bill and as a result, they told the billing department and myself that they thought their health insurance covered the cost for therapy.
