I worked at LifeWay Christian Resources part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The customers were always friendly and there was always the opportunity to improve with the help of keyholders, management, and online information.

    Cons

There was a high turnover and strictly structured pay, management wasn't free to pay based on employee ability.

    Advice to Management

Give more freedom to each store to do what they think is best for their employees and community

I worked at LifeWay Christian Resources part-time

    Pros

    -Great people to work with
    -Great environment to work
-You get to meet and help a lot of people

    Cons

-No room for growth, where your at is where you will stay
-Sexist environment towards men as there were many experienced men working there, but when a promotion is available its only given to women.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your entire staff not just your favorites, and don't try to micromanage your team so much. Have faith in your staff and their abilities. Also make sure you do your work as we always had issues with management not doing the work assigned to them leaving someone else to do it.

I have been working at LifeWay Christian Resources part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, friendly staff, better customers than other retail environments. Management is willing to work with you if you need time off. (Like for my kids school holidays)

    Cons

Very few hours for staff. Average is 12 hours per week. Mandatory online training is time consuming and pointless. Yes you get paid to take it but it is of little help. You also are required to work Black Friday.

I worked at LifeWay Christian Resources part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best thing about working there and the only thing that I liked was how you are able to help customers, and they trust you to tell you their testimony on very person issues. (Family deaths, sickness, drug abuse, marriage abuse, abuse.) I have worked there for almost 3 years l, and quitting was the best thing for me. Management didnt take me quitting lightly l, and were upset. But the toxic environment happening when the store manager wasnt there, and others ran the store was too much. I now have a better paying job, better hours thay are guaranteed. And God has blessed me with a Christian boss, and a great company who is absolutely caring, and give back to their community.

    Cons

It's hard for the managers to listen to their employees
Management doesn't want employees to have fun and go out together after work.
They believe work and personal life shouldn't mix, and because of this they get involved in your personal life, not respecting privacy.
Hours are always cut, it is rare to at least get 20 hours a week.
    Hours vary per week
Low pay, you will start at state minimum.
Management isn't held accountable for their actions.
Hard for management to be humble

    Advice to Management

Stay out of employees personal life.
Treat employees based on how good they do their job. NOT on if you don't like that they hang out after work.
    Listen to your employees
When hiring new people focus on their spiritual connection with Christ but not so much that you dont know if they'll be good workers.
Help them grow spiritually while working there.
Train the new employees as well, dont leave it just for other keyholder.
Be humble. Don't let your position get to your head you are respected because of it but it doesn't give you a right to be disrespectful.
Talk to your employees and get to know them.
Be honest, give them advice on how they can improve themselves in their job.
Dont forget to read the devotionals each morning with employees not just on your own, it helps their growth in Christ.
Dont yell and get frustrated or put each other down, work as a team, and if you have issues confront each other.
Dont speak behind each other's back it won't solve an issue, and it'll make who ever your talking to think who ever you speak bad about is a bad employee.
Say thank you to your employees and be grateful for what they do its important.
Do more volunteer work. It's important to give back, and do it as a team.

I worked at LifeWay Christian Resources full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Paid time off
-Get to talk about Jesus at work
    -Closed/off on Sundays

    Cons

-Literally no training for Assistant Managers, but are expected to be trained
-Salary is LOW! $12/hr is not enough to live on
    -Health insurance is very expensive
-Co-workers (at least at my store) were rude and lived in cliques. Gossip everywhere.
    -Map Sets are very unorganized
-Ordering product takes forever, which upsets customers

    Advice to Management

-Please pay your employees more. Especially the full-timers in management.
-Actually train your Assistant Managers. I know there's a "course", but my Manager wouldn't let me take it. So maybe get everyone on the same page.
-Close the store earlier at night...no one wants to buy a book at 9pm.
-Better organize Map Sets...reading a 20 page packet that isn't organized at all was really frustrating.
-Hold the store managers accountable for THEIR actions!
