I worked at LightRiver Technologies full-time

    Pros

Lots of smart people working here who want to do good work.

    Cons

Really bad management. You're expected to be an expert in every optical technology but not given any time to learn or practice since time is money and you are only useful when you are not in the office. You have to be away from home 3-4 weeks in a row, and when you're on deployment there is no clear cut sheet of work to complete. Most work days in the field last 12-14 hours long. By the time we're done we are all...

You can't sell twice as much service and not invest to grow engineering team.

I have been working at LightRiver Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good experience out of college Some groups are very supportive of work/life balance

    Cons

-Management team isn't aligned; continue to pull in different directions affecting morale. -Management is extremely disconnected -All raises/bonuses based on seniority and not merit. Creates culture of some people barely doing the minimum while others carry too much of a burden and then leave. -No/limited potential for growth -People in the Concord office work more than folks in remote offices who do very little between...

I have been working at LightRiver Technologies full-time

    Pros

You get your hands an all sorts of different equipment from multiple vendors. There are a lot of smart engineers who help one another out. Learn by "trial by fire".

    Cons

If you're a field engineer, expect to spend 3 back to back weeks on the road. High turnover of employees. If you're a full time employee, you don't get paid overtime, though you typically work 50 or more hours a week. There's a very high turnover from burnout. Because there is minimal skillset overlap, if you take a sick day or vacation, all of your work piles up for your return. You're expected to follow processes...

    Advice to Management

When employees say they are overworked and need support, management doesn't listen. Then when good engineers do leave, management says that they're "unloyal" to the company. As a services company, your employees are your asset. Don't keep telling them that they're "replaceable" and that you can hire "minimum wage college kids" to replace them.

It seems they are resistant to spend money on their IT infrastructure. Non revenue generating departments get low priority. No benefits offered to non permanent employees.
