I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company overall is amazing. Great benefits, competitive pay.

    Cons

Group Protection department and specifically the Short-Term disablity area is extremely disappointing. Senior management does not care about or value the employees wellbeing, time or effort that is put into these claims. They don't care about the fact that each examiner has almost 200 claimants. They expect you to work as if you are in a call center and answer every phone call which is literally impossible. The turnover rate is ridiculous as they have no way to keep new employees beyond 6 months after their training ends. Several managers have quit within the last 4 months alone. LFG overall is a great company, if you can get in anywhere else besides short term disability you'll be in a good place.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. If they are all overwhelmed, stressed, and upset DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Hire more STD examiners and figure out a way to boost employee morale and retain the people that you hire.

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There aren't many pros to this job. The only pro is the 401k plan, it's exceptional. The health benefits are not too bad.

    Cons

Where do I start. Management is horrible. They micro manage on every level. At times we are treated like kindergartners. Management talks bad about employees behind their backs and to their faces. Management is constantly changing procedures and not always for the better. It seems like they have a purpose for the change but haven't thought through the change. Unfair practices are every day occurrences in this place. If you are in good with management you will advance, if not you won't. There are very few jobs to move up to and working your way up is very slow. Honestly, they have unfair labor practices beyond what I could have imagined. It really couldn't be much worse.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be trained in managing people. Micro-managing has never worked but this department is well known for their micro-management techniques.

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice people, perm employees have decent benefits. Building is pretty decent, but the campus is beautiful. Really lovely landscaping. On site cafeteria.

    Cons

Broker dealer is being shut down here. Employees with 30+ years with the company are loosing their jobs. My department looses more people every week. Company hasn't told the rest of the building that they hope to relocate all business down south and closet the building by the end of 2018. I would pursue a permanent position here if the outlook want so poor. Not the kind of environment I want to work in again. The situation is really sad in my area.

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are excellent including 401(k) match, PTO and other wellness benefits. Offices are nice and modern. Lots of growth in some locations.

    Cons

Very slow to implement much needed changes and system upgrades. Systems are really old and require a lot of work to do tasks that should be automated. Still a lot of silos. No digital capacity. Still rely on people working in cubes in the office vs telecommuting for most people. Just not ready to face the digital world - which is very costly in a lot of ways. Little to no advancement opportunities unless you are in a special program. The problems give lots of possibilities for making a difference but you won't be rewarded financially. Bonuses were at absolute minimums for years and although this year was good, the outlook for future bonuses is unclear.

    Advice to Management

Make decisions about the needed technology and get moving! Clients and employees demand it now and will be moving to those who are not dealing with 80s technology! 3-5 years isn't going to make for sustainability or persistency.
