I worked at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, PTO plan is great, 401k and match is exceptional. Nice medical plan and premiums are kept reasonably low. Full medical, dental disability life, accident and critical illness offered

    Cons

Low salary and very small merit increases. Employees who don't move to different positions will suffer because salaries are not kept up with market because increases are so very low. Dedicated employees will eventually have to leave the company to receive appropriate compensation

    Advice to Management

Keep salaries in line with market

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice people, perm employees have decent benefits. Building is pretty decent, but the campus is beautiful. Really lovely landscaping. On site cafeteria.

    Cons

Broker dealer is being shut down here. Employees with 30+ years with the company are loosing their jobs. My department looses more people every week. Company hasn't told the rest of the building that they hope to relocate all business down south and closet the building by the end of 2018. I would pursue a permanent position here if the outlook want so poor. Not the kind of environment I want to work in again. The situation is really sad in my area.

I worked at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A good place for remote management style of work
    Very people and diversity-centered

    Cons

    Can be clique-y
Non-Sales departments get less respect, lot of in-fighting
"Who you know" culture of success and advancement
Layoffs seem to come easy when money/resource questions arise

    Advice to Management

Continue humanitarian work, and respect for diversity
Realize supporting departments are as essential as the sales force

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are excellent including 401(k) match, PTO and other wellness benefits. Offices are nice and modern. Lots of growth in some locations.

    Cons

Very slow to implement much needed changes and system upgrades. Systems are really old and require a lot of work to do tasks that should be automated. Still a lot of silos. No digital capacity. Still rely on people working in cubes in the office vs telecommuting for most people. Just not ready to face the digital world - which is very costly in a lot of ways. Little to no advancement opportunities unless you are in a special program. The problems give lots of possibilities for making a difference but you won't be rewarded financially. Bonuses were at absolute minimums for years and although this year was good, the outlook for future bonuses is unclear.

    Advice to Management

Make decisions about the needed technology and get moving! Clients and employees demand it now and will be moving to those who are not dealing with 80s technology! 3-5 years isn't going to make for sustainability or persistency.

I worked at Lincoln Financial Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

A great place for someone looking to make a career. Open and accepting environment, no matter your background. Management can be flexible as needed to ensure a healthy work-home balance. Colleagues are very supportive and encouraging.

    Cons

A lot of employees telecommute, which can make it hard to collaborate on intricate projects. Communication between different groups and departments needs to improve. Cliches or favoritism exists in multiple settings. Management sometimes feel hesitant to approach difficult situations when it comes to employee productivity.

    Advice to Management

Use your authority to promote productivity and a healthy work environment between employees and groups. Do not primarily telecommute if you expect to lead an A+ team.

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. People aren't awful to work with, but they aren't raising the pay to match the industry so it's causing traffic jams in people moving up.
It's the only way to get better money.

    Cons

Start with awful pay. They force you to work crappy hours and say you will only be there for a short period of time, but it's probably not true.
They claim it's easy to move up, but you really need to play the system to be able to do it.
