I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time

    Pros

There are some great front-line people at Lincoln. There is also a great sense of cooperation and collaboration. You learn to do a lot with a little. Everyone wants to do the right thing.

    Cons

There has been a lot of turmoil in the IRD management team. People have been let go and there's minimal communication from senior management. No one knows whether LFG is going to move forward, or prep the business to sell it off. People are worried about their jobs. It also seems like there's not a good feel for management knowing what is going on in the field - there's no forum to push info back up the ladder.

    Advice to Management

You have a lot of experienced people in client facing roles. Listen to what they are telling you. It will save you a lot of grief in the long run.

    Pros

I enjoyed being a member of the Leadership Preparation Program(LPP). The networking was great, and it helped me to figure out my career aspirations.

    Cons

I think communication needs to be better and the roles for each participant need to be finalized ahead of time. I didn't like how the program was very disorganized. I hope changes are made.

I worked at Lincoln Financial Group full-time

    Pros

My manager and coworkers were great to work with. They do try to do fun things during the year to keep people engaged. They are really into volunteering and helping out the community

    Cons

They are a corporate environment and going up the ladder past your manager they don't actually seem to care about their employees and will think little of cutting your job just to save a few dollars.

    Advice to Management

If you cared more about your employees then they may put more effort into their job and therefore you wouldn't lose so many great people with amazing work ethics.

    Pros

People care about you here. It's a generally good environment. Decent pay, especially just starting out in a professional field.

    Cons

Upward mobility is low. It seems like you have to suck up a lot to move up. Seems very political.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Lincoln Financial Group (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits package
    Good atmosphere in some locations
    Strong, stable company
Good opportunities for advancement in some teams

    Cons

Too much reliance on outside consultants for reorganization/optimization strategies
Frequent reorganizations cause unnecessary confusion and concern
Unreasonable demands on employees create morale problems
Good people are allowed to leave while incompetent managers are retained and promoted

    Advice to Management

Reliance on consultants who don't understand the business well enough is severely damaging morale. Work with the people within the company and listen to suggestions from all levels, not just middle managers.
