    Pros

Friendly teammates, vacation racks up quickly, sabbatical after 5 years. Good benefits and a nice location.

    Cons

Lots of employees who have been here a decade plus and do not appreciate change, new ideas or differences.

    Advice to Management

Consider some updates to the culture and environment. Give newer employees a reason to be excited.

I have been working at Linear Technology full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Profit sharing is usually about 27% of your base pay, restricted stock grants are usually awarded on hire and every 2 years thereafter, 6 week sabbatical is earned every 5 years

    Cons

Occasionally requires travel to Milpitas, CA to release a new project, which is fine if you like that kind of thing. Workplace is small, so there's not a lot of people to befriend

    Pros

Company focuses on its niche and is very good in this space. Top management encourages input and ideas from employees. Discussions are robust, but when decisions are made, everyone moves in the same direction.

    Cons

Hours can be long during the peaks.

    Pros

    - extremely challenging work with no hand-holding.
    - good profit sharing and mentorship (if you can get one)
    - best of the best in the industry
    - minimal meetings
    - no deadwood

    Cons

    - Political at a higher level
    - Very little work/life balance
    - Experience is extremely dependent on the middle manager and the senior manager.
    - No unique culture

    Advice to Management

Please be more diplomatic and understanding toward your employees. Also, invest in your employees and make sure they all are happy with the situation.

I have been working at Linear Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great camaraderie. Everyone is an expert, and really passionate and good at what they do! If you love analog circuit design, this is the place to be. But be prepared for marathon design efforts.

    Cons

Projects are single man efforts. Most of the designs these days are big chip designs which can easily take 2 to 3 years to get anything useful shipped.

    Advice to Management

    More team building activities.

    Pros

You get to work with highly talented individuals and get to work at the cutting edge of advanced silicon technology.
Flexible Hours which i think are manager dependant.
    Great profit sharing.

    Cons

Can sometimes seem elitist and there are no recreational perks.
The cafeteria food recycles every month and you get used to it pretty fast.

    Advice to Management

Consider making the place more fun to work for younger people through team building sessions and some additional perk such as a gym.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Linear Technology full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits/compensation package. Close to home in a suburban environment (light commuting traffic). Comparable base salary to other like companies but the semi-annual profit sharing on base and OT(average 29% over last 9 years), attendance bonus, ERT bonus, 100% sellback of unused sick time, floating holiday and vacation time as well as the 1-month sabbatical every 5 years makes it a superior employer.

    Cons

The company's attempt to run with a very lean crew makes for good profits but also makes it difficult to utilize earned time off. The generous compensation package makes it difficult to want to leave when you get burnt out (not sure if that's a bad thing). Because of the low attrition rate it is difficult to change shifts when life circumstances require a change. The company is also prone to witch hunts and knee jerk reactions when issues arise rather than spending time and money up front to prevent the foreseeable occurrences before they happen. Has become less in touch with employee needs over the last 5+ years in favor of profits and what I term "management success trophies" (eye candy projects)

    Advice to Management

Reinvest in your employee base. A happy, loyal, focused employee is worth 2 bots that just do as they are told. The best leaders will have employees that desire to see the company succeed vs. just coming to work and doing what they are told because it keeps the paycheck coming.
