    Pros

Work with the best in the industry. Work life balance is great. Working environment is mostly pleasant. Conservative finacially. Salary is competitive. Job security is high.

    Cons

It is difficult to advance in this company since the structure is very flat. Raise is capped. Equipment purchase is inconsistently scrutinized by upper management. It is common that engineers bring in their own equipments. Certain groups are internally divided. Upper management is getting worse as company gets bigger. Under utilize young talents. IT departments are for the birds.

    Advice to Management

It is important to keep the work life balance becuase that is the biggest draw. It is not a good idea to use PC with Pentium D nowadays. Engineers are the main source for growth. Most feels that upper management stepping on gas and the brake at the same time. Smart people should not do that.

    Pros

Very stable company. Not many people leave. Very little turnover. Many, many people with 20-30 years in the company. Nice annual parties. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Old infrastructure. Not many perks like the Googles and Facebooks. Not much in terms of career ladder.

    Advice to Management

Open up the purses a bit and upgrade the technology.

I have been working at Linear Technology full-time

    Pros

Highly profitable, best profit sharing in industry, generous stock. once was thought to be stable, business model can go on as always.

    Cons

Very demanding, old culture company. Slow growth. Struggling to grow big. Slowly going down hill.

    Advice to Management

I guess, to ADI management. LTC is a really delicate, unique company. To make the merge work is a huge, huge challenge. The key thing is good people. Without good people, LTC worth nothing.

    Pros

Profit sharing, sabbatical, nice location, experienced operators, nice facilities, once a year company picnic and Holiday Party, cafeteria, a few knowledgeable engineers.

    Cons

Poor specs. Managers come and go or get promoted towards the corner office. Promotions are done secretly mostly based on flattering. Job openings are not available to everyone. Some engineers use very dirty language and nobody seems to notice. A lot of certified bipolar in high places making everyone's life miserable. Experienced engineers are switched to projects that have little to do with their expertise. Too much family and friends makes it a place for bullies. Old equipment that needs to be replaced and not enough man power. We are asked to do extra projects when we are already short handed. Small cafeteria with loud people. Smoking area is attached to the building and smokers take full advantage of their habit. Operators must clock in and out for every break but managers and engineers spend hours smoking right under everyone's nose. A lot instant wrong decisions taken by managers. Opertors have little respect for management. Some of engineers were promoted from technicians without experience and their job has to be done by the other already busy engineers. A lot a "flattering" towards the managers. Flattering is the key of success at LTC. Once you get stuck with a new task is yours and not extra pay for it.
I wouldn't recommend this place to any friend.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting the friends and the "yes men"
Start hiring more competent technicians and engineers in critical departments. Like maintenance. Build a bigger cafeteria. move smoking area at the end of the parking lot.
